The term “edible art” is an appropriate way of describing Zen’s menu. Inspired by traditional Japanese cuisine, the inventive menu is heavily influenced by the abundance of wonderful West Coast seafood and produce. The premium is on quality, with the best offerings from Japan being served daily. Sushi and Sashimi creations are staples, but Zen has something special for any and all diners including a selection of highly innovative tempura, teppanyaki, and delicious robata (Japanese barbecue) highlighted by chicken yakitori, garlic short ribs, and simply grilled fresh fish. We had such a lovely meal , 6 of us on the patio with no other tables too close …..the service was just wonderful , the food delicious ! The lychee martinis were a bit hit, so were the stuffed zucchini flowers ( we had 2 each …) then the ebi wontons, aburi salmon, Osaka roll etc etc The staff here are so pleasant and professional, it’s always our first choice of a North Shore restaurant to bring visiting family ……thank you !

The food was good, enough. The place seemingly attracts a lot of tourists so they tend to get busy and the service staff, and kitchen can’t keep up. The chef and kitchen staff are Japanese, so you’re getting authentic sushi with many creative and designer rolls. Best advice is to stick with the tried and true so you won’t get disappointed.

The food was outstanding as usual. Very ingredient forward and doesn’t overload on rice in rolls. Presentation is superb. The service staff is very attentive and personable. Love it here!

The Zen Japanese restaurant is located in a beautiful neighborhood of West Vancouver. The establishment was one of my favorite restaurants—do not let the hidden entrance fool you. Inside, all staff is friendly and welcoming. You can see the kitchen and the kitchen staff at work when inside. Outside, where I sat, you can see the ocean and the sunset if you come at the right time. The service was excellent. The food was even better. Make sure you reserve this restaurant if you enjoy seafood and Japanese cuisine.

I highly recommend the food service was excellent but one thing I noticed they open until 9 PM. That part I did not like it was Saturday night. They should be open at least until10 PM. Otherwise, everything is good excellent until
