Nice choice on menu with skate which rarely see and my husband really enjoyed. My steak was cooked to my liking and was very tasty. Scallop starter was also excellent. Staff attentive and friendly. Only downside was that although I had booked several weeks in advance through this site my booking had not been passed through to the restaurant and they were not expecting us however luckily it was not an issue as not very busy but could have been if in peak season.

We choose to eat at the Ventana restaurant because of the Art Deco decoration. We like to to dress in 30s clothes and were looking forward to the experience. On our booking it said smart casual but when we got there, there was a woman in scruffy shorts. The lady who sat next to us was talking on her phone throughout the meal, which ruined it for us. We then waited nearly an our for our food! We were given a free drink but then a 12% service charge was added to our bill! Shocking!

Not the best fillet stake I have had. Portions were small. Had to ask for water which should have already been on the table.

The wrong meal was served up and then it took another 30+ minutes to get a replaced served - very disappointing

Decor and atmosphere is amazing. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, fish and chips followed by passion fruit and mango cheesecake and chocolate fondant. Would definitely recommend and will visit again.

We were given 1 menu when the table next to us got to see both menus ( we were staying at the hotel) we asked if vegetables could be altered & were told they’d ask. Eventually the meal was delivered without a word said with the original vegetables ( only my friend wanted hers changed from rocket salad to peas, hardly difficult). No one came near us so we could ask. It wasn’t busy and only about 8 tables in use but although the table next to us was being given good service (later on guy on table pointed out he is friends with the manager) felt strongly that we were being ignored. Actual food was ok. Gin drink 🍷 instead of in usual gin glass was served in the straight kind of glass that you’d drink 🥤 a soft beverage in! We waited patiently for the bill, but apparently cleaning empty tables when plenty of clean empty tables around the cafe. I’ve had better service at McDonald’s than at this cafe so after waiting patiently we walked over to bar in next room & just as I was asking if anyway we could pay there the waitress finally came over to us. I p checked the bill and told her straight to remove the gratuity (which is automatically put on the bill) and completed payment with my friend full of disappointment for a meal I’d booked to finish a lovely day out. What was supposed to be a treat due to lack of choices, lack of service and average food when staying at 4 star hotel has made her decide we will not stay or eat there again and premier inn is better quality and price. I would never recommend as it wasn’t just the waitress who made us feel uncomfortable but the other hospitality staff who were serving as well. Only the bar staff and reception were up to standard being professional, polite and friendly.
