Situé à Louisville, où la scène culinaire indépendante remporte un franc succès, le Varanese propose des ingrédients frais, préparés avec un flair créatif et un menu éclectique à la diversité culturelle comportant diverses options : feuilles de vigne farcies et salades de tomates vertes frites, ou plats de résistance caractéristiques, comme des côtes de porc sans os à la poêle et du saumon caramélisé à l'orange. Terminez votre repas avec une banane frite accompagnée d'une crème glacée au cookie à l'avoine faite maison. Ce nouveau restaurant de style américain peut facilement accueillir 150 personnes dans son bar, sa salle à manger et sa terrasse ouverte toute l'année, qui a été ajoutée au bâtiment. Vous aurez en outre la possibilité d'admirer le spectaculaire mur d'eau en ardoise de 6 mètres de haut. L'espace est entouré de portes vitrées sinueuses qui se rétractent afin de vous permettre de souper dehors. Enfin, le Varanese se trouve au numéro 2106 de la Frankfort Avenue, dans le quartier historique de Clifton.

Great meal, great service. A really great meal. Angus Filet Oscar on Creamy Grits (instead of garlic mash). with fresh asparagus. Pecan Apple Salad to start. Yum. Hadn't been in a while. Place hasn't changed a bit. Comforting. Very nice live jazz background music.

From the time we walked into the restaurant, we had excellent service beginning with the hostess. We wanted a table in a different place and it was not a problem at all...super accommodating. The server was friendly with a great sense of humor. My husband and I split the Mahi-Mahi and our friend had the filet; both were delicious. A nice perk was that it was a Wednesday night so certain bottles of wine were half price, which topped off a lovely evening. The jazz music was nice and not overbearing, so you could hear people at your table talking.

Always amazing. Good and service were on point. Dining room was open air tonight and the music was perfect. Fabulous experience every time.

As always, Varanese did not disappoint. From cocktails through the end of the meal it was great.

The food was definitely not as good as it has been in the past. I had not been there in several years and was kind of disappointed in what I got. I decided to fried green tomato salad was was good and the cheese spheres which were not good at all. The previous version was cheese wedges lightly fried and they were delicious these didn’t have a good texture nor a good taste just king of blah. I’d definitely recommend going back to original version or remove these from menu. Most others liked food choices just ok just not quality or taste we had recalled in the past.

The server was nice, but hard to find when you needed something. We asked for bread and it arrived with the meal vs before like at other tables. One of us ordered the smoked boneless pork chop topped with an apple bacon chutney. The apples were extremely sour which was completely unexpected and off putting. We asked the manager about the sour taste of the apples in the pork chop chutney and he offered to replace the meal, but wouldn't answer if it should taste as sour as it wasn't in the description. The other meal seemed like the plate had been prepped too long before the swordfish was placed leaving the fish hot, but everything else cool. Both the fish and pork chop were cooked perfectly, but the rest of the items on the plates were not to par. We opted for dessert elsewhere.
