Une visite à San Francisco ne serait pas complète sans une étape au Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar. Ce restaurant a été constamment primé pour proposer la « Meilleure Happy Hour de San Francisco » par le San Francisco Magazine, le San Francisco Bay Guardian et plus récemment, le Where Magazine. Le Tonga Room sert une cuisine polynésienne exceptionnelle dans un cadre tropical avec tonnerre et pluie torrentielle. Il offre une escapade parfaite après une longue journée de réunions ou de shopping le long de l'Union Square. Ne manquez pas de goûter son cocktail Mai Tai, élu le meilleur de la ville par le Condé Nast Traveler. Les réservations sont prises uniquement pour le souper. L'Hurricane Bar et l'Happy Hour sont disponibles selon le principe du premier arrivé, premier servi. Un droit d'entrée s'applique après 20h00, quelle que soit votre heure d'arrivée. Absolutely unimpressed by our experience. We were confronted by a $15/person surcharge for the entertainment that we weren’t informed of until being seated. Service at the front was uninterested if not disrespectful. The server was fine, food was tasty but highly priced. Drinks good. Surprised about the low quality of our experience relative to other reviews.

Great experience at the Tonga Room last night! We had a wonderful dinner-the drinks we had were tropical and the food was delicious! The band was outstanding and the overall ambiance a lot of fun!

It was great to visit the famed Tonga Room, if only for the nostalgia. The service was fabulous, the decor, appropriately south sea kitsch. The drinks were fabulous, all be them $22 a piece. We were disappointed that the menu is so limited. Very few entrees, sides and apps to choose from. All very overpriced. The food was good. Not great. It’s worth one visit, for sure.

I know that things change , but what I thought would be a night out at an adult night club , ended up as a night at some low rent wedding . There were families with babies , teens at a party , 20 something’s in pajamas standing around on the dance floor . The host at the door was not welcoming at all. He was herding the guests into groups . I understand that the hotel or corporation might make more money with this concept , but maybe they could set aside certain nights for a more traditional night out . The band was ok , but not great for dancing . The wait staff is excellent.

Drinks were strong, food was ok. Best dish we had was the mushroom fried rice, beef stir fry, not the best, too salty and steak was not tender

Awful food. Crazy loud….can’t talk with band playing. Ridiculous pricing. $400 for 5 people hat was only 2 cocktails. Food was bland and boring. The kids chicken tenders were straight up from a frozen bag. I dreamed about coming here for years. I was massively disappointed. My children mocked me because I had told them it was going to be such a cool experience. lol

Iconic San Francisco spot. Fun to bring out of towners, but pricey and not necessarily worth the money. They charge a cover when there’s a live band playing. The food is not their strong suit, unfortunately. The cocktails are sweet and strong. Come for the ambiance and to check the box.
