Une visite à San Francisco ne serait pas complète sans une étape au Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar. Ce restaurant a été constamment primé pour proposer la « Meilleure Happy Hour de San Francisco » par le San Francisco Magazine, le San Francisco Bay Guardian et plus récemment, le Where Magazine. Le Tonga Room sert une cuisine polynésienne exceptionnelle dans un cadre tropical avec tonnerre et pluie torrentielle. Il offre une escapade parfaite après une longue journée de réunions ou de shopping le long de l'Union Square. Ne manquez pas de goûter son cocktail Mai Tai, élu le meilleur de la ville par le Condé Nast Traveler. Les réservations sont prises uniquement pour le souper. L'Hurricane Bar et l'Happy Hour sont disponibles selon le principe du premier arrivé, premier servi. Un droit d'entrée s'applique après 20h00, quelle que soit votre heure d'arrivée. The Island Groove is our live band who performs the top 40’s hit songs from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s as well as current hits. The cover charge is $10 per person on Sunday, Wednesday, & Thursday beginning at 8:15pm and $15per person on Friday & Saturday beginning at 8:15pm. Please keep in mind that once the band starts the cover charge applies to all guests in the restaurant and the bar regardless of the time they arrive.

No-show reservations/cancellations for any reason outside of 48-hours will not be eligible for refunds. Cancellations must be sent via email to TongaRoom@Fairmont.com to be eligible. Live music in Tonga Room begins at 7 pm. Any tables that are seated at 7pm or later (inclusive of guests joining before 7pm) will also include a $15 cover charge per person added to the bill. Each reservation guarantees a table in our dining room for a 2-hour experience. $50 per person charge will be used towards your dinner experience. This experience is not for bookings for drinks and/or appetizers only. Requests for tables poolside will be attempted, but cannot be guaranteed. For Parties over 10, contact TongaRoom@Fairmont.com to discuss reservations.

A total experience restaurant. This is a place you go for drinks and appetizers and skip the food. It's a fun atmosphere with a band in a little boat on the water in the middle of the restaurant. The food was bland but the service was great.

It was amazing. The atmosphere was very tropical. It felt like we were back in Hawaii. It also rains in the dining room for a cool little show. The drinks were worth the price. We ordered three. We ordered poke tostada appetizers and they were delicious. For entrees we ordered the miso glazed salmon and the beef striploin. For dessert we shared the mango panna cotte. Our total check was $253. If you are in San Francisco and are looking for a unique dining experience then you must check out this spot. Reservations are a must and the deposit was $50 per person.

So much fun. We booked this thinking it would be a silly, but fun way to enjoy our evening, and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was great, the music was good, and the vibes were overall awesome. The major callout to make was around service - there are a little minor (but major) things that the staff did that really made this an over the top, awesome experience. Cocktails came out from the bar insanely fast. Our dinner plates were pre-warmed. Without asking, our sever split our dinner salad onto 2 separate plates. He also joked with us through the evening. We never wanted for anything - thanks, David for being so great.

Tourist trap. Food was sub par and very expensive. Cover charge for live band is sad. Service was good. Cool to place to eat when it’s starts raining. Will not go back

I was wonderfully surprised by the ambiance it was perfect for my birthday 🥳 it was like being in another state a tropical one every thing was great I was fully entertained by the music and my guest of my party good find . The hotel which I known of is perfect if like nostalgia and classic venues. Happy Birthday to me

They recently changed the menu and did not make notice. The new menu is terrible and includes little to nothing from the original menu. No pupu platter, no ribeye, no spam, no coconut shrimp. There are also no options for kids, best they could do was garlic mushroom rice, which no kid wants to eat. It was terrible for the price, I used to really enjoy coming here, but it's too expensive for mediocre food and nothing of interest to eat.

We have been going to the Tonga Room since 1979 and have seen many changes over the years. Some for the good and some not so good. They now take reservations which is good but you have to guarantee your arrival by paying $50 in advance for each person and they charge the card at the time the reservation is made. If you need to make a change in your reservation you can’t do it online through Open Table you have to call the restaurant directly. Now that is the tricky part because no one answers the phone. We had reservations for 5:30 pm on a Saturday. We are visiting from Kansas City and once in the Bay Area we discovered another possible option for Saturday but it would mean changing the Tonga reservation from the Saturday time to Friday. I tried calling the restaurant throughout the day on Friday to try and make the change. I attempted to call over 20 times with no answer and going to voicemail. They don’t open until 5 pm but calls attempted after 5 pm were unanswered as well. I even left a voicemail on Friday hoping someone would be checking messages but no one ever called back. The menu seems to be getting more limited every year. We have always enjoyed their Pupu Platter appetizer which is a combination of many items that is enough for 2-3 possibly 4 people, but the price is now up to $66. It’s good but not worth $66. Most of the signature bar drinks are $22 to $26 so that can add up very quickly as well. The number of entrees on the menu has continued to dwindle over the last few years and the prices have continued to go up. I could deal with the changes and increased prices if that was the only change, but the inability to communicate with anyone at the restaurant to make changes is the kicker. It saddens me to say, but this was probably our last time to dine at the Tonga Room. We have 45 years of wonderful memories at Tonga and to that I say “Thank you for the Memories”

Amazing historical landmark with reallllly overpriced mediocre food and a limited tiki drink menu where most drinks taste like Long Island iced teas. Really disappointed in the drinks so neither of us wanted a 2nd. Went on a Friday and we were warned if we stayed past 7 we would have to pay additional for a music cover charge. Cool environment, good service, but not worth it.

The band was great, the service was fast, and the food was so so. Too much $$ for food. Nicole at the front desk was great. She read our request for visiting from the reservations site and followed them perfectly.
