    I don’t usually leave bad reviews. But the level of poor service and the fact that the waiter and manager did not care compels me to do so. I made a reservation. It was my birthday. My girlfriend called ahead to inform them of our special occasion. Seated 15 minutes late by the kitchen. Appetizer took 35 minutes to arrive. Crew was cleaning up the dining room very loudly as our main entree arrived. After the meal the manager came by to ask how it was. After my girlfriend explained our issues he said “ Well, next time call in advance”. She said that she did. He said “Oh, well…”. I highly recommended avoiding this very bad establishment

    We live on the Big Island and have dined at Tommy Bahama many times over the years. It has been a place we can count on to serve good food and drinks in a pleasant atmosphere. But today's visit was a bewildering failure. Everything started out well as usual, but after our appetizers were served we waited more than 45 minutes for the entrees. Our waiter finally stopped by to tell us that the preparation of my husband's Wagyu rib eye was a lengthy one and was holding up the whole order. This didn't make sense to us - How long does it take to grill a steak to medium-rare? And nothing else was coming from the kitchen to any other table at that time. Suddenly dishes started coming out, but when our entrees arrived my mother's order was wrong. She had ordered chicken tortilla soup, but the bowl placed in front of her had crab on top of it. She asked the waiter about it and he said it was a garnish and walked away. She started eating the soup and found that it was crab bisque - not chicken tortilla soup. The waiter - on the fly - asked my husband how his steak was but never stopped walking to ask my mother or me about our meals. My husband was satisfied with his rib eye, but I was disappointed in the macadamia-crusted mahi mahi, which was bland in appearance and taste and was less appealing than frozen fish sticks. Its accompanying sauce was also flavorless. We had an appointment at the Mauna Lani that this meal made us late for, and we were so rushed that we did not ask for the manager. We had my husband's half-eaten meal boxed up, and my mother ordered a slice of cake to go. I actually got up and walked to the hotel, leaving my husband and mother to suffer the agonizing wait for the bill and then drive to to catch up to me. I had been at the hotel for quite some time before they finally arrived. After this experience, I am not sure when I will be ready to visit Tommy Bahama again.

    We’ve been to big island 4 times now and this is always a must visit. You do need a reservation and you’ll still wait 10-15 minutes but the food is always great. It’s not cheap but that’s typical for Hawaiian restaurants, expect to pay more for an excellent meal and you won’t be disappointed

    The food was completely delicious! Very high quality and well prepared. The service matched the food, being attentive, prompt and very friendly. The overall experience was an utter delight! The room was definitely noisy, but for new years eve and a complete full house, not a surprise. We were a party of 5 and all enjoyed their meals! My only negative comment is that there is only one vegetarian dish available, which seems typical in Hawaii, but at least one more would've been nice. Otherwise a wonderful evening!! Highly recommended!

    We live here on the Big Island since 2006; even though we live south of Kona, coming to Tommy Bahama restaurant is well worth the effort. We come to the restaurant 2 to 4 times a year.
