Situé dans le petit hameau de Compton à Surrey, le Withies Inn, datant du 16e siècle, a été subtilement modernisé pour accueillir un petit restaurant de première classe. Les poutres basses attrayantes et un intérieur éclectique ajoutent à une atmosphère qui est détendue, informelle et personnalisée. Lorsque le temps le permet, une attrayante pergola vous propose de prendre votre repas à l'extérieur, dans le charmant jardin. Compton se trouve directement sur l'historique Pilgrims' Way et possède une église qui a un choeur sur deux étages, ce qui est rare, et une galerie de photos consacrée aux œuvres du peintre victorien George Frederic Watts. Le Withies Inn prend place dans le paysage encore intact de la commune de Compton, tout juste au sud du Hog's Back et à la limite du Loseley Park, avec son charmant Elizabethan Manor House. Compton is easily accessible by car as it is signed just off the A3 south of Guildford. Take the B3000 from the A3 signed to Godalming/Farnham and then Compton.After the roundabout at the end of the slip road take the first left onto the B3000. Continue along the B3000 for 2 miles until you see the sign for The Withies Inn.

My friend and I had a nice meal. I had fish, she had stroganoff. The fish was maybe a bit greasy. I did wonder whether the potatoes were last nights reheated. Our only problem was trying to catch the waiters eye as we were tucked away in one of their leafy arbours.

A firm favourite for years, this pub never disappoints. The service is always immaculate. Food was lovely and generous, the setting is top notch. Also very good for gluten free options.

Delighted to say that after thirty years, The Withies is still an unspoiled historic cosy pub with friendly efficient staff and great service.

Lovely dinner with friends. The beef wellington and Dover sole were delicious. Great service and such a lovely traditional pub restaurant.

Fabulous food, warm and friendly service. This is a wonderful pub and restaurant and a little gem in the heart of the Surrey countryside. I brought my friend Toby who lives in central London and he was absolutely thrilled by the whole experience. Thank you to all the staff at The Withies who made this such a memorable date!

I have been visiting the Withies since the early seventies. It was always an expensive outing but well worth it for a treat. The ambiance, the food, the service was always special. I have not visited for a while and the last time had been a bit of a disappointment but l decided to take a friend there on Saturday who also had fond memories of it. I’m embarrassed to say that we could find no trace of its previous glory. The head waiter was very off hand and although we had pre booked he seated us at a tiny cramped table. The prices are still high but the food when it arrived was badly cooked, badly presented and of a very poor quality. l am, though, happy to say that there were two waitresses who were both doing a good job. I know The Withies is up for sale but l am very sad that the owner has let it slip so badly.

been going to Withies for many years and staff and menu have been a constant throughout creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Traditional food cooked to a very high standard and one of few places you can get such a good meal

Stunning old world restaurant with great ambiance and an excellent, very comprehensive wine list, at reasonable prices. The calves liver was probably the best calves liver I have ever tasted. Faultless service.
