The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

We were seated 10 minutes early for our 1pm reservation. Out server arrived at our table immediately and greeted us. We put in drink orders then when she came with those we ordered our appetizer and meal. We thought it might take a bit of time as the place was full but it was all out quickly. Ordered thr pot pie and braised beef and both good. This is where service got slow but I think they seated 3 or 4 new tables in her area at once so she was busy. Ordered thr mint cheesecake and that was amazing. Bill was $80 plus tax so not really bad for 2 people to have a nice meal with drinks and dessert. The tree and Christmas decorations were beautiful and we lucked out and were seated near the tree. Will make it a tradition each year to go back. Lucked out on the reservation because we missed it when it opened. So glad we got one!

Fun holiday experience! We had a great time. The restaurant was very busy. The wait staff did a great job . Do have dessert !!!

It was the best time! Kylie was fantastic and I gave her a great tip. The other patrons were nice and friendly.

The atmosphere was very nice. My server vanity was very informative on wine selections. The food was good, but it was not served hot enough and the overall staff was very hospitable. I will be returning.

The ultimate kick off to the holiday season. Many families and dressed up children. A fairy princess will visit your table and grant u a wish and sprinkle you with fairy dust. The braised short rib is delicious! Do not miss the frango mint pie. Delicious cocktails!

Serviceand the food were good. The red lighting around the tree was very harsh, not my favorite, but the tree was beautiful as always. Sad the fairies missed our table this year.

We had a fantastic server! The Turkey dinner was delicious as was the Frango mint cheesecake dessert. We always look forward to going every year. The only thing I wish was different was the ease of obtaining the reservations.

Visiting from Kansas and really wanted to do something unique to Chicago. DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Ordered the chicken pot pie and it was UH-MAZING!

My kids were waiting to eat dinner by the tree at the Walnut room for a month. Unfortunately, we were seated behind a large column with no view of the tree. I even requested in the reservation to be seated close to the tree. Making reservations was stressful and almost impossible and then siting behind a column was a disappointment
