The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

    The website said valet parking but there was no parking so last minute I had to find parking with 20 min to make my reservation on time. I tried calling the number on the website got the voicemail twice and twice said it was full. How can such a reputable restaurant not have a live customer service person The food was Luke warm but favorable The service was friendly and personable but a lot of delay. Our server was James. We waited for 40min for our food that my 5 year old started getting impatient and hungrier Walnut room ambiance is beautiful but service just as mediocre as when I came in 2018. Don’t see myself returning. Expected more.

    Our experience was wonderful, ambiance was fantastic. They had live music and I just wish we could’ve saw who was playing better. Service was great and so were all the employees. The food did leave a bit to be desired but wasn’t bad by any means. I can’t wait to come here again for the holidays next year as a part of our annual Christmas tradition!

    Wonderful ambience. Food was delicious. Our server a delight. The fairy princess and the Christmas wish a fun touch.

    Had a great time! I have been coming every year since I was 5 years old (55 Years) and the tree is prettier each year.

    It was OK, I don’t understand the hype around it. Food was fine, nothing spectacular. The service was OK, waitress was friendly but she dropped off the food and didn’t see her again until the end of the meal. The room is nice and a great view if you’re sitting by the window. I don’t see any reason to go back but glad my kids got to experience it.

    Wonderful experiences and great food, the charming well decorated restaurant was a great start to the holidays. The food was great just took a while to come out. Loved that the kids meal came with a free mug and included a Christmas cookie dessert.

    The servers were excellent. The fairies were so much fun. The food was good, which isn’t always been the case when you go closer to Christmas and they are overwhelmed. But just the joy of being under the tree is always a tradition of ours
