The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

    I ordered the Turkey dinner. The green beans were cold when they were served. The mashed potatoes were scimpy and there wasn’t enough gravy. It looked like the items were hastily put on the plate.

    Our family dinner there was amazing ! There were fairy's walking around giving kids wishes , etc ... food was great ! Will be back

    This was my second time dining at the Walnut Room ,i had the chicken pot pie and the lobster bisque it was delicious. Our waiter Victor was absolutely one of the most pleasant waiters I’ve ever dined with ANYWHERE . The ambiance was superb and the tree is BEAUTIFUL i will definitely make this a tradition from now on.

    Saved the date waited a month, cried when my daughter 20 and I walked macys, surprised her, by walking to our lunch date. Super pretty, table linens and all. The server couldn't have cared less, for all the pre ?s that are asked, makea it seem like it's special. Server could at least ask "what brings you here?" Food, turkey dinner-noise turkey, Soso potatoes, good dressing but served Luke warm.. like no butter for potatoes, no dinner bread, not enough gravy, and cold-like cold green beans. Hanburger was good, but again, smash burger not smashed, super small.for the bun like,just make thw burger fit the bun so when you bite you actually bite burger! No letrucw no tomato either, for 18$ really? Fries.cold dry and salty. Server forgot about us, I felt, wrong food was delivered to our table, took forever to get pop refill then she took the straws, so we didn't bother asking. Food came much later, probably lost under the heat lamps. Not even busy, wed @ 2:30. Server said, do I need to bring a desert menu? I said no just the bill, and she didn't show back. we went to bathroom then saw the bill at table, sat and waited more for her to cash out. So we drove 8hrs plus sat in traffic 2hrs happily...to create a memory, for nothing! I do not complain worked for Landrys for 10 years, and yes I expected more not much just the added value every customer deserves.

    Very kind staff. Really enjoyed seeing the princesses walk around and interact even though our baby was too small this time to fully enjoy it.

    Loved this favorite holiday lunch. Chicken pot pie always a favorite, but meatloaf was excellent also. And of course Franco ice cream pie completes the meal!

    I took my mom here for her 84th birthday! We traveled downtown by Metra and dined at the Walnut Room and it was an amazing experience!
