The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

We had an amazing date there :) lex was our server and he was very welcoming and friendly. We were very happy with him. He did great!

Our server Liz was absolutely wonderful. Every staff member was courteous, efficient, and helpful. We really had the best evening in thanks to the staff. We were seated with a beautiful view of the tree. Our entrees and the Walnut Room salads were actually the best we have experienced at Walnut Room. The quality was improved. This is our fifth visit and it was our best experience yet.

This is a holiday tradition that never lets us down. Very great food as always, and Vincent our server was amazing and paid close attention to our needs. I highly recommend the Walnut Room any time of year, but the holidays are always very special. Thank you.

Our server was definitely the best part , she was beyond amazing !! Love that there was a vegan gluten free option !! It was our first time and the whole experience was better than anticipated. Thank you

We had an amazing dinner! Our server Diamond was so wonderful, attentive, and funny! She truly made our night and our Walnut Room experience unforgettable. We would definitely recommend visiting during the holidays. What a memorable night!

We had a great time yesterday. Beautiful atmosphere and tree. This is our 10th year celebrating with our family. It's our tradition.

Our waitress Allison was very nice but took 10 minutes to introduce herself after we were seated. Our appetizers were brought out and then we received our entrees less than 5 minutes later. We were shocked. However we also saw other tables with different servers that also had the same experience. The food and drinks were wonderful. We even got two desserts bc we couldn't choose just one. While the first half felt very rushed, the last half was much calmer.

Always a great holiday experience, year after year. The atmosphere and service were outstanding. Probably our last visit with a largely vegetarian crew and very few options with that diet.

It was our first time at the Walnut Room. It was beyond what we expected. We will return next year with our grandaughter and god children. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

That prime rib is amazing and reminds me of pot roast. The tree was beautiful this year as usual but not as creative as last year. It was a lovely experience as usual!
