The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

Our server Liz was absolutely wonderful. Every staff member was courteous, efficient, and helpful. We really had the best evening in thanks to the staff. We were seated with a beautiful view of the tree. Our entrees and the Walnut Room salads were actually the best we have experienced at Walnut Room. The quality was improved. This is our fifth visit and it was our best experience yet.

Our waitress Allison was very nice but took 10 minutes to introduce herself after we were seated. Our appetizers were brought out and then we received our entrees less than 5 minutes later. We were shocked. However we also saw other tables with different servers that also had the same experience. The food and drinks were wonderful. We even got two desserts bc we couldn't choose just one. While the first half felt very rushed, the last half was much calmer.

Always a great holiday experience, year after year. The atmosphere and service were outstanding. Probably our last visit with a largely vegetarian crew and very few options with that diet.

The Walnut Room is always an exceptional experience! We live in the North Shore of Chicago and for whatever reason never got down to eat here until last year. It's now an annual tradition. Everyone makes you feel extra special, including the host that walked us to our table, asking us about our holiday and if we traveled among other details. Everyone goes above and beyond to make it an extra special and memorable experience for all. To top it off I can use my Macy's charge and earn five points per dollar because I'm a platinum member. I love Macy's and I love the Walnut Room!!

Our table was close the the entrance where people keep taking pictures. Made our table feel very uncomfortable. I don't like strangers taking picture of myself or my daughter and grandchildren. There should be a partition so that doesn't happen. Food seemed over cooked and dry.

Always a memorable experience especially during the holidays! Excellent food, ambience and service. I always go with my great grandson and we thoroughly enjoy our time at the walnut Room!

The Walnut Room experience is always good. The food was yummy and drinks were good. Our server seemed to rush us a bit but otherwise we had a great time. Dessert is always the perfect ending!
