The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.

    Today’s lunch was outstanding. We had 3 different entrees, salmon, mushroom ravioli and meat loaf and all were outstanding. It was a perfect meal. Jesus was very attentive and made our meal special. Thank you.

    I had a wonderful time today at The Walnut Room. The food was excellent. The service was great and I got decent portions. I will be back

    We had an outstanding experience. Mark was our host and Liz was our waitress. Both were attentive and gracious and the food was everything I remembered. We had traveled with friends by train and this was our must do restaurant. Chicken pot pie is the go to, the salad dressing is amazing and the drinks were well made. All and all, a truly wonderful experience.

    Food was excellent. Waitstaff was excellent. We so happened to be seated by a loud large party who seemed to have yhe need to attract aytention. Typical loop fan fare. Other than that, great meal before the Chicago Theater show. Suggest Salmon and Asiago Chicken. You have to try the Rizotto! Chocolate cake was too sweet and decadent for me.

    Disappointing! We thought it would be fun to experience this classic Chicago restaurant and we won’t ever return. They didn’t seat people near the beautiful fountain. We were in a dark corner by the bathrooms. The famed chicken pot pie was not hot and not that tasty. The service was also sub-par. Too bad.

    Jose was an excellent server. Made great recommendations. Food was very good Charcuterie was perfect for 4, small caesar salad was shareable. Mushroom ravioli dish was very good as well. We had a great view looking out at Muddy Waters mural. Great for pre show dinner. And of course , the building is iconic Chicago history!
