We believe that it is possible to provide outstanding quality food in stylish yet informal surroundings at sensible prices and we have a reputation for doing just that.

Our accomplished Head Chef and his team produce delicious, seasonal dishes with a big focus on locally sourced produce.

The Talbot Ripley"s menus feature imaginative modern British a la carte dishes, as well as traditional classics and seafood specialities. For those with a sweet tooth we have an array of mouth-watering puddings that are quite simply, to die for!

We have a choice of areas in which you can dine, from our cosy bar with its 15th Century beams and open log fires to our restaurant which features a stunning copper ceiling and glass wall overlooking the Summer terrace and garden.

Afternoon tea was lovely. However where we were seated was not very luxurious so did not feel particularly special. All felt a bit tired. There were a group on another table all drinking and quite noisy, much better after they left. Service was good initially although we had to ask for items that should have been offered. They did not check on us during the afternoon for things like more tea, though I’m sure we could have asked. However overall it was good value and a nice way to meet friends instead of lunch.

I stayed at the Talbot inn for two nights with some friends. On both evenings the food was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was excellent as well. I have no hesitation in recommending the restaurant.

The Talbot restaurant garden room and outdoor space has such potential. We booked day before for Sunday Lunch. Friendly welcome, but when ordering we were told there was no Sunday Lunches on. OK. So we look at menu again and re-order. Service was friendly but very slow with inexperienced staff (walking past tables full of plates empty handed, chatting or doing other jobs inside rather than observation of customers whose drinks are low or empty, waiting to be served... and we could see they waited, and waited, and waited.) We've been here before and it has to be a training deficit from Management to Staff on service levels. The food was nice. The toilets were filthy and uncleaned from the wedding the night before... but this was 1pm Sunday, surely they should have been cleaned instead of wading through soggy toilet roll, unflushed toilets, no paper, no hand paper. Not acceptable. Last time for us. It's dirty.

The service wasn't the best - whilst friendly, didn't bring the right menus over and weren't particularly attentive once food arrived The food itself is very average and sadly my friend's Caesar salad involved browning chunks of lettuce (including the ends!) and dry toast rather than croutons Wouldn't hurry back - although the garden setting is lovely
