The Swamp Fox Restaurant and Bar, named for Revolutionary War hero, General Francis Marion, features classic Southern cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Executive Chef Heyward Davis and Chef De Cuisine Daniel James create regional specialties that emphasize farm to table practices using locally grown fruits and vegetables with respect to the traditional beloved flavors and techniques of the Lowcountry.

Known for its award-winning Shrimp and Grits, The Swamp Fox Restaurant and Bar overlooks historic Marion Square Park and is popular with both locals and visitors to Charleston. Guests can enjoy live piano Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm - 9pm.

The restaurant also has a private dining room, the Parkview, that seats thirty and overlooks King Street and Marion Square Park. This intimate space is perfect for private events and small parties.

Masks are recommended for fully vaccinated customers. Consistent with CDC guidelines, unvaccinated customers should wear masks.

                                                                        Our New Years Eve dinner was excellent along with the service. My wife’s scallops were cooked perfectly. I had the wagyu ribeye steak that was served exactly as requested. We had 2 appetizers (fried green tomatoes & jumbo shrimp cocktail) that were great starters. The evening was part of a New Years package offered by the Francis Marion Hotel. We had extended our stay by 2 days and definitely recommend this offer.

                                                                        We ordered the salmon (2x) and shrimp and grits with a side of green tomatoes. The shrimp and tomatoes dish were the best, the salmon was dry and could’ve used a bit more season because of it. Their selection in lighter beer was lacking, with only 2 choices available. The rest of the wines and cocktails was amazing. An intimate seating experience, but service was top notch. Restaurant was located next to a park, which was fully lined with lit trees.

                                                                        Manager was excellent. But the server was nice but not good at all. She was behind on every table and didn’t understand how to multitask. When all of the tables around you are complaining it’s hard to enjoy yourself. It wasn’t even busy on a Sunday night.

                                                                        When I made a reservation at the SwampmFox, it was not clear that we would Be part of a big buffet event. We were under the impression that tables were available in the restaurant and not a giant ballroom. The ballroom was beautiful, and we had a table Reserved—so that worked out, but once we were seated, we spent the whole hour without any dedicated service—no beverages, no one to even bring our check until we asked three times. The staff acknowledged this—that there was a miscommunication, and they offered some compensation. That’s all fine—it was a busy holiday, but when you do pay for a service, it’s helpful to Actually receive the service At the time of dining. Food was nicely presented, and ambience Was Pretty. A chef even came out and offered to take a family photo.

                                                                        We were so glad we made a reservation for Christmas lunch buffet at the Francis Marion in the ballroom. The variety of food, the presentation, the service level were all top notch. We enjoyed the festive decor as well. We hope to return for Christmas lunch buffet this year. Great experience overall.

                                                                        My son and I dined at the Christmas Day buffet. The shrimp and grits were the best I’ve had. It was a pretty typical buffet but what elevated it was how beautifully decorated the room was in red and white. And our server Oscar was so personable and attentive.
