Lovely restaurant in a lovely setting just by the river. Food was excellent. One of the best Sunday roasts I’ve ever had and service was great too. Will definitely come back again.

A generally very good meal, apart from some chips were not properly cooked & there was grit in the spring onion dish which has chipped my tooth! The restaurant was very busy as the races were on so I will still return as this is one of the best restaurants in York and had we complained at the time I am sure they would have done something about the chips. We just didn’t want to spoil the evening.

Lovely setting by the river. Had sirloin steak which was tough and a monkfish that was overwhelmed by the sauce. It's our second underwhelming visit.

We had an amazing meal for a graduation celebration . Wonderful service from the waiter Jack and such a nice room and table. The food was superb. Can’t fault anything about The Star in the City. Thank you .

A great afternoon spent on the terrace. The staff are all so helpful and knowledgeable. The food was great and even though we moved tables 3 times for the summer and rain it was never too much for the staff. Thank you

Food was ok, but extremely over priced for Sunday lunch to then have an additional 12.5% service charge added is over top £105 for two beef dinners with two drinks each….,.

Beautiful restaurant. Sunday lunch option, only one slice of beef and part of it was fatty and chewy. The rest of the meal was beautiful and nicest Yorkshire pudding I have ever had.
