We made a reservation for Valentine's Day about a month in advance. We went with a large party of 8, but figured it would not be an issue since we had made a reservation. Our reservation was at 7:45pm, checked in on time and we sat at our table close to 8:30pm. The host was not apologetic about the long wait, but rather seemed annoyed that we had a large group and had asked twice if our table was ready and we just didn't hear our names being called. It took about 15 minutes after we sat to meet our waiter and every step of the way was a wait after wait after wait. We had the Valentine's pre-fix menu which was a deal and the food was delicious, but it was hard to ignore the simple lack of service at this restaurant. This was our first time dining at this restaurant and we had chosen one of the busier days to eat, but a restaurant of this stature that has been around should not be struggling to seat their guests in a timely manner. We received no apology for the long wait and no sort of compensation. We had a reservation and we still waited close to 45 minutes to get seated after our reservation time. Overall, the experience and the pre-fix menu was good; however, the lack of attention and service was enough to thoroughly negatively impact our dining experience.

Went there for Valentines Day and it was great. It was quite busy and the food did come out like it had been sitting for a while, even the dessert came melted (sundae) but it’s understandable when they’re so busy. Ambiance as always was romantic and relaxing.

I made this reservation three weeks to a month in advance for Valentine’s Day. In the reservation notes, I specifically requested a table by the window. When we arrived, there was an open window table right next to us, but we were not seated there. I asked if we could switch, and the host or manager (not sure which) said they would check. When they returned, they told us it was a table for four, even though it was clearly a small two-top. Just a few minutes later, another couple was seated there. The only apparent difference? We’re a younger lesbian couple, and they were a straight couple. It certainly felt like that was the deciding factor. If you want the best table here, it seems you need to be straight. It’s disappointing to feel like we weren’t valued the same way as other guests, despite paying the same price.

The Sausalito Summertime salad is really good, and their clam chowder is one of the best. Always a good experience. Make reservations to secure a window seat.

I enjoyed the Seafood Louie salad. My husband enjoyed the club sandwich. The atmosphere is elegant and refined.

The location is perfect with beautiful views to Sausalito, SF Bay and San Francisco. We loved the dressed waiters. The building is showing its age. The roof was being replaced the day we were there. Cocktails were good (really need big ice!) The food was good with decent proportions. The space was rather cool, and didn’t seem to ever get up to a comfortable range, so kept my jacket on. A little modernization of the space is due.

It was our first time there the three of us each had something completely different. We all loved our food. The service was great. The atmosphere was great and certainly the view was amazing.

We ordered from the Light Lunch menu, the half an avocado with a HUGE portion of tiny Bay shrimp, and lettuce, of course, and mini yellow tomatoes, plus a generous container of Thousand Island dressing! Also the “cup” of clam chowder was a perfect accompaniment!
