The food at the Smith is very good. Everything tastes fresh. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. And the ambiance at all their locations is a similar industrial chic with white subway tile and dark accents. The service was not great on our visit to the Lincoln Square location. We had to wait over 30 mins for a table despite having made a reservation more than a week in advance. And our waitress, while extremely nice, disappeared for long stretches of time. Still, the food, location and ambiance would make me return again.

We have avoided eating indoors at The Smith for years because of the noise level - we only eat outdoors, only during the months when it's either warm out or warm enough with their heaters. But now that they have pretty much enclosed the entire outdoor area (or at least the lower two-thirds and ceiling of that area), it is as noisy out there as it is inside. Too bad - it is a friendly neighborhood place with good food, but not being able to have a conversation at a normal volume is a turnoff.

We went for pre-theater dinner. The place was NOISY. We had to shout at each other but after while we just gave up, finished our food quickly and left ASAP. I still feel like my ear drums were damaged.... The food was average and our server tried her best to make us comfortable but there was nothing much she could do. I just don't understand how people can dine in such a noisy environment.

Great food and vibe. Very busy even for a week night which impacted speed of ordering. Staff was friendly and attentive.

A little pricey, but worth it. Very nice staff, delicious food, and they cooked my rare NY strip perfectly! It was a little loud for my taste inside, but outside looked like it was nice and quiet.

Never disappoints . Service is FRIENDLY and competent . Recommendations are on point. Food is NY prices but not out of line . INSIDE is, surprisingly , noisier than outside . Too bad about all the weed smokers driving past

Convenience to Lincoln Center is the main attraction here. The noise level is through the roof. The food is ok (though if you are going to charge $3 for a piece of toast cut in half, it should NOT be burnt and it should be served with butter), and the prices are high for what it is.
