We enjoy this restaurant every time we are in the area. We had a bit of a slow start waiting approximately 10 minutes past our reservation time. We were seated, and proceeded to order a bottle of white wine wine. We were told the wine that we ordered was not cold and it would take some time to chill the bottle. The server brought the bottle of wine to the table and an ice bucket and proceeded to let us sit there for 25 minutes, waiting for it to chill. very difficult to understand that they don’t have white wines chilled on a regular basis. This would be an opportunity to try to correct this situation. We did have a delicious meal, short ribs, and duck breast, both delicious and perfectly service was excellent once we were seated. dessert was OK but there’s definitely room for improvement with the butter cake. It was a bit dry and not served warm. Overall, we would continue to dine at this restaurant., Even though we felt that given the circumstances, there was no apology for the missed steps, or no comp of anything. comping the dessert would’ve gone along way to make us feel valued as a guest

Reluctant Panther never disappoints. Two of our party of three were gluten free, and much of the menu is gf or can be adapted. Good gf rolls too. I never feel like I’m sacrificing a wonderful dining experience when managing my dietary restrictions here, and the service is excellent.

This is the absolutely best restaurant in a town full of excellent restaurants. We eat here frequently and we have never had anything that was less than superb. The combinations of flavors, the care and presentation, the variety of dishes on the menu, the inventiveness without being precious.....I'm trying to think of an adjective even better than superb. The room is lovely, the service perfect, unobtrusive, but never stiff and formal. Even when the room is full (and it is a large room) I can hear our conversation. In the summer, when one can eat in the garden, it is equally lovely. Manchester dining is not inexpensive, but the prices here are absolutely reasonable for the quality.

My wife and I enjoyed yet another excellent dinner at the Panther starting with cocktails at the bar which were pearfect. The return of the burrata with mixed beets was excellent as was my wife's soup of the day. The pork chop with sage polenta was as good as always and my wife's risotto of the day was excellent. Matt and his staff are top notch. Back soon

A 5 star dining experience. The dining room is lovely with two fireplaces and seating with plenty of privacy. Drinks & dinner - delicious. I had the short ribs - so yummy and my husband had the pork chop. He said it was the best he ever had. Dessert was perfect. Service staff really have it down. Manager Matt was gracious and on top of the entire experience. Cannot wait to return to The Reluctant Panther. Don’t miss this gem. Just steps away from The Equinox Hotel.

Superb dining, in the past year we have had dinner in Philadelphia, Wilmington DE, Dublin IE, at very fine restaurants, this meal is up there with the best.

The food was very good, as my rating reflects. Unfortunately, the service was nowhere near the same level. Two examples: We started our meal by ordering a half bottle of champagne and wanted to order an appetizer, while we determined what we wanted for our entrees. Our waiter would only take our drink order, saying we had to order our whole meal at the same time. We’ve done this many times at many restaurants and have never been denied. Note that we had an eight pm reservation and when we were done the restaurant was 80% empty - so there certainly was no concern that they needed to turnover the table and we were going to take too long. The waiter assured us that the kitchen would manage the timing of our courses and we wouldn’t be rushed. Well our entrees came out very soon after our appetizer. Granted, this is subjective. However, at no point before our entrees arrived did our waiter ask us if we would anything else to drink after we finished the half bottle. In fact we never saw our waiter during this period of time so we could proactively order a different wine to have with our entrees. So when our entrees came we didn’t have wine to enjoy with them. When our waiter did finally reappear and we were able to order more wine, we had already finished half of our entrees (didn’t want them to get cold while we were waiting - the lesser of two evils). Another example of the service falling short (although clearly not as detrimental as that described above) was the fact that our waiter, or any of the wait staff, never refilled our water or even asked us if we would want more water, even though our water glasses sat empty on our table. As a result, our ability to truly enjoy our meal was negatively impacted. Which was a real shame because the food was quite good.
