There is a discretionary 10% service charge for larger parties of 8 or more.
Located high up on Saddleworth Moor above Manchester, Rochdale and Oldham, the Rams Head Inn at Denshaw enjoys panoramic views out over the surrounding countryside. It’s just five minutes from Jn 22 of the M62 and the inn is a real treasure, more than 450 years old and packed with memorabilia as well as stoves & log fires in every room. This multi-award-winning venue was one of the original gastropubs and specializes in farm-assured steaks, burgers, seasonal game and fresh fish and seafood dishes complemented with excellent real Ale, wine and champagne.

overpriced basic food. Surprise platter was a let down and not worth the money, main menu was served with no vegetables and it tasted like instant mash was used and I couldn't eat it. The sausage was bland with no flavour and tasted cheap. My partner ordered the duck with noodles, again very poor quality food and we will not go back.

Very sad to see this written online so quickly and harshly. Why not say anything to the many members of helpful staff while you’re dining with us? That is what they are there for. Nothing is too much trouble to sort out, if you do not like your dish that you ordered for any reason we can swap it for another or take it away and refund your money, can not be fairer than that. Better than being a keyboard warrior who eats and pays for a meal they don’t like. We do table check at many stages of the meal. Everything is cooked with quality and fresh ingredients, we do not use instant mash, anyone is welcome at anytime to step into our kitchen and see the hard working chefs preparing items from scratch, see them use the potato peeler and mash the fresh steamed potatoes by hand every morning.

Fabulous Sunday roast, quality produce, excellent staff, Lovely chilled out vibe in the countryside. Can’t wait to return.

Pub lovely, staff friendly, helpful & courteous. Food excellent. Only gripe was that we travel 35 minutes to come to this pub for a meal & drinks and they’ve stopped selling Timothy Taylor ale which is/was the reason we visited in the first instance. It’s unlikely we’ll visit again despite no issues with the food, pub or staff.

Fairly empty restaurant with no atmosphere. The food was below average. No issues with the starters but the mains were terrible. The seabass was flavourless and the ribeye was a mass of inedible fatty meat & tasteless. When the waitress came to clear the plates, the issue with the steak was pointed out, only to be told you should have said we could have got you another. They came to check about the food around 3 minutes after it being put down and then nothing again until the plates being cleared. Needless to say there won’t be a return visit!

Last minute booking but a lovely welcome, well looked after and some really excellent food. Not rushed at all and unobtrusive but attentive service. Will definitely be back 😊

5 of us and we all enjoyed our meals, the salmon starter, pheasant starter, asparagus side and the fish pie were the stand out dishes. The Sunday roasts were very tasty and generous as was the stuffing side portions. Great gravy. Everything tasted so fresh which it doesn't always in restaurants nowadays. We didn't have dessert as we had brought a cake which they brought out from the kitchen with plates and cutlery without any fuss unlike some places. The service was top notch and really added to the enjoyment of the visit. Thanks a million.
