Once the beautiful Victorian interiors of this old pub were restored to their original glory and the first floor dining room opened, along with outside terrace for dining, the locals must have breathed a sigh of delight before tucking into some seriously good gastropub grub. Business folk crowd in at lunchtimes, while friendlier couples and groups pack in evenings and weekends. There is something here to suit most palates and pockets. The menu changes daily - another sign that they're serious about food here - but we recently loved the fish chowder, and the aubergine, potato and spinach bhaji with yoghurt. The wine list is heaven.

The food is exceptional. Menu is full of dishes you are desperate to try and is completely different from most other pub menus. Staff are super friendly and the wine is really good and inexpensive compared to other pubs and restaurants. We will be back - regularly

Staff were lovely Food was ok - the roast potatoes weren’t quite roasted - needed another half hour or so but on the whole very nice and. We would go back

Been coming here for years. Never fails. Owner is great. Our dogs love their visits too. Huge mixture of clientele.

Great food, discreet but friendly service. Loved the look of place mix of old school pub with modern bright paintwork.

I cannot speak more highly of this pub. The food is delicious, the staff are great and it’s small enough yet big enough to have a great vibe and atmosphere. I will definitely be going back regularly. It’s the perfect balance between a pub and a restaurant.

Extremely helpful and accommodating staff (we moved tables twice because we were a large group). Delicious food with a great choice on offer. We really enjoyed the lamajun (spiced lamb flatbread) with tzatziki. A lovely place to have a leisurely lunch.

Less pleasing experience than previously: very noisy and overcrowded. Difficult to navigate to get to the loo etc. Fine evening so asked to sit outside at the back. Was told that no longer exists! Why? Food fine, if unmemorable. Wine expensive for a pub. Saving grace was our waiter, Nicolas. Cheerful, efficient, informative, good eye contact. Brought food quickly considering how busy he was and what he had to contend with. We came here because of previous pleasant experiences but are in no hurry to return. Could do better QH&A!
