L'Optimist and Oyster Bar du The Optimist peut simplement être décrit par « quand les Hamptons rencontrent le Sud ». Cet établissement est engagé dans un approvisionnement en fruits de mer éco-responsable et les prépare de manière classique. Il ne cherche pas à réinventer la roue, simplement à rôtir parfaitement des poissons et crustacés, issus d'une « ferme », au feu de bois de noyer blanc de Géorgie. Les éléments proposés dans le menu varient, du gumbo de fruits de mer le plus authentique avec « repas-partage » à base de pain à l'ail aux rouleaux de homard du Maine, en passant par le mérou du Golfe avec oignons viadalias fumés et une sélection en constante évolution d'huîtres super fraîches des côtes Est et Ouest. L'ironie du sort veut que les propriétaires aient adapté une « cave » de vieillissement historique de la région en un espace incroyable de confort et d'évasion grâce à des inspirations de la culture surf côtière.     Amazing food. Love the atmosphere. Service was very kind but as usual at restaurants at the end of the night everyone disappears and we had to ask for water from someone who wasn’t our server. Wine service could use some minor attention. Would definitely go back.

    Great splurge for our anniversary. Raw bar selection was great and of a 'like the seashore' caliber. First course portions were large and easily shared (and our server split the bowl on the smoked fish soup as that is not easily shared (and great); blu cheese salad was very good and didn't need split plates). Tuna & scallops were great in their own right. Blueberry pudding cake dessert was a treat -- especially the basil vanilla ice cream -- who'da thought that would be so tasty. We're working our way down the Ford Fry restaurant roster (this is #3) and plenty to keep trying! Recognition of our Anniversary was a special treat.

    We've been to The Optimist a few times and have always enjoyed it. Hannah, our server, was so sweet and took great care of us.

    They have such a lovely selection of food and it’s an absolutely beautiful location. The service was pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We always love their fresh oyster selections.

    Savannah provided outstanding hospitality and was quite knowledgeable about the menu and preparation of dishes. The food was outstanding, particularly the Spanish Octopus…absolutely scrumptious! The Lobster Rolls were tasty and refreshing. The swordfish included a duck confit sauce/glaze that made a wonderful pairing. If we lived in ATL, The Optimist would definitely be a regular dining experience for us. Oh, I almost forgot a very delicious something….those complimentary dinner rolls. Every bit was worth every calorie - soft, buttery, pillowy goodness.

    It has been nearly a decade since we have been able to return to the Optimist and it never disappoints. All of the seafood is tremendous. But the main reason I am writing this is to recognize our server, Leighton. He was tremendous the entire night. He was quick, he cared and was truly engaging. We thoroughly enjoyed having him as our guide.

    Amazing food and service. We did not like how close our neighbors tables were to ours. We were seated so close to the tables on either side of us that it felt like a giant community table. We could hear our neighbors conversations since we were close enough to touch them. This was disappointing.

    Great experience with great selection of dishes. My son was able to try oysters, octopus, and mussels for the first time.

    It was a special occasion and we were very excited to eat here. The fried oysters were amazing and my husband loved his seafood platter. But my meal was fair at best. The apple salad wasn't fresh (and I asked for dressing on the side which didn't happen). The lobster roll was mediocre for the price - too much bread, not enough lobster and served with chips.
