L'Optimist and Oyster Bar du The Optimist peut simplement être décrit par « quand les Hamptons rencontrent le Sud ». Cet établissement est engagé dans un approvisionnement en fruits de mer éco-responsable et les prépare de manière classique. Il ne cherche pas à réinventer la roue, simplement à rôtir parfaitement des poissons et crustacés, issus d'une « ferme », au feu de bois de noyer blanc de Géorgie. Les éléments proposés dans le menu varient, du gumbo de fruits de mer le plus authentique avec « repas-partage » à base de pain à l'ail aux rouleaux de homard du Maine, en passant par le mérou du Golfe avec oignons viadalias fumés et une sélection en constante évolution d'huîtres super fraîches des côtes Est et Ouest. L'ironie du sort veut que les propriétaires aient adapté une « cave » de vieillissement historique de la région en un espace incroyable de confort et d'évasion grâce à des inspirations de la culture surf côtière.     We arrived for our reservation and were seated within a few minutes. It’s a beautiful space but a tad too dark. Wish they’d turn the lights up just a wee bit to better see the food. Sid came right over and offered water and asked if we wanted to order drinks while we looked over the menu. They then brought the most amazing year rolls to the table. Warm, light as air and dosed in butter. I could eat a dozen by myself. Note: Sell them to go!! Our entrees came out shortly and the only words I have are perfection!! Scallops perfectly cooked, topped with crabmeat and the poached swordfish was beyond! Meaty and rich, with the counterbalance of the mushrooms in a super rich broth with duck confit on the side. Omg! We also had a side of hush puppies which were more sweet than savory, that arrived with a dusting of powdered sugar and a side of cinnamon butter. Sid was fantastic! Checked on us often, made great suggestions and was very friendly and personable. Overall a fantastic meal and am experience that will be repeated soon!

    The apps and oysters were the best part. Entrees and sides were fine. The wait staff was not great. Took a long time to get waited on. We had to wave someone down and ask for a server. Service was slow and we were given the wrong oysters. We ordered a dozen and we given a half dozen. They realized a table close by had ours and we had theirs after we let them know. Then they just swapped them? After both of us had our oysters sitting on our respective tables for a bit until we figured out it was the wrong order. Felt like an odd choice to me to re-serve food. We had already squeezed lemon on ours. This is not what we have typically come to expect from this restaurant and it’s usually one of our favorites. But it was off.

    Food was phenomenal! Server, Evan was outstanding! He remembered and address our group by name the entire dinner. Will definitely be back!

    The Optimist benefits from an amazing decor. I took my wife to their for her birthday dinner. When I made the reservation, I was asked if it was a special occasion. Other than having "Happy Birthday" printed on the menu, the staff did nothing special for us. There was no offer of a complimentary desert as most restaurants do. We thought the menu was a little pricey. When we received our meals, we were shocked at how small the portions were. I ordered the scallops. Based upon the price I was expecting 4 larger scallops. I received 3 small scallops. My wife ordered the lobster. She was shocked how small it was. After dinner when my wife and I talked, we both felt as if we had been screwed over on what we received for the price we paid. The bottom line is while it was nice inside the restaurant, there are far better seafood restaurants in Atlanta for the price that have equally as nice interiors. It will be a long time before we are back.

    Great service, delicious food-beet salad was awesome,as was the fluke (which had never had)!

    Delicious She-Crab soup. Awesome yeast rolls. I got a cheeseburger; with the onions, it reminded me of a White Castles cheeseburger, and I liked it lol! For the price I wish it had lettuce and tomatoe. My waitress was awesome. I was too full for the Keylime pie. I will try that when I go back next week.
