The Metropolitan was formerly a grand Victorian railway hotel and is now enjoying a new life as a fabulous bar and restaurant. Full of style and character, its success is built on quality products served by friendly and professional staff.
Enjoy food that's freshly prepared and locally sourced in the airy Conservatory Restaurant. Our lunch menu suits those with a light appetite and limited time as well as those choosing a more leisurely pace and a hearty meal.Evenings in the restaurant are perfect for celebrating special occasions or just a catch up with friends.
Traditional Sunday Lunch is a fantastic family experience with a lively atmosphere .

    Only real complaint was that the beer was so cloudy it should never have been allowed to leave the bar.

    The table was not booked when we arrived but luckily they had a table free. We waited 40 mins for the food and 3 out of 5 dishes were not edible ( one burger burnt, 2 fish undercooked).

    Very disappointed when I arrived at 1.15 they had no record of my booking. Showed them the booking confirmation,took no notice of it. Luckily it was half empty and there were tables available. Won't be using your app again

    Service from the lady for brunch was fab, she would be good training people she was great. The men serving was good. Food lovely for brunch

    This is a great pub Great food and atmosphere though was slightly subdued due to COVID restrictions. I’ve been going since it was The Midland in the early 80’s

    Went for food, a few days before the nation wide lockdown. Staff were friendly, abs just chatty enough without being overbearing. Food was excellent. Had a lovely time.
