Just around the corner from Bath's Royal Crescent, The Marlborough Tavern combines the atmosphere of a local pub with the food quality you’d expect of a top restaurant. Two AA rosettes, and inclusions in The Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide bear testimony to the quality of both food and service. It’s no wonder it's won the Bath Gastropub of the Year title more than any competitors.

Food is essentially, though not slavishly, English in character and takes advantage of locally sourced produce wherever possible. Its food reputation is matched by their service - always friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and there's an extensive wine list and selection of local ales to choose from. The Marlborough's pub garden is arguably Bath’s finest; a walled courtyard space, that’s perfect for summertime lunching and drinking.

Lovely roast dinner as always. Asked for extra gravy, which was no problem. Would eat again

I was very disappointed with the food not as good as last time potatoes not crisp beef not great veg overcooked not happy.I will not be back.

We had a very nice meal. The food was very good. The fish could have been a bit more delicately cooked and had a bit more wow factor for the price. And the table was a bit on the small side, but lovely atmosphere and service was very good.

Eat here often . Love the newish smaller plates offered now . We had a few to share which was perfect . Also the lunch special sandwich.

I took my partner here to celebrate his birthday. On the booking form i specified that it was a birthday celebration (as there was a box to select if it was for an occasion. This was not acknowledged at all. On our arrival we weren't seated at a table, the waitress pointed at a table. We had to call a waitress over to take both drink and food orders. I asked for recommendations on wine/champagne and the waitress responded with *I don't know, I don't drink wine or champagne*. I asked for recommendations on the main meals between the cod and the steak and she said well the steak is more substantial....... I don't like the cod dish. Our starters of ribs and cod was lovely. But both the pork and steak main were extremely disappointing. The steak was chewy and tough. I asked for medium and it was more medium rare. The pork was bland. Not once during the meal did anyone check if we needed anything. We had to ask for condiments. Bitterly disappointed with all aspects of our visit. Overpriced for the service and food we had and staff were slow and of no help. Gutted that I spent £120 on a meal I could have made myself, with better service!

Booked a table for dinner with family who were visiting. Some of our group arrived early to feed their baby ahead of the meal, an hour into the meal we were told the table was needed back for another booking - staff were very rude and wouldn't allow us to order a second drink as they wanted the table back for another group. The Bath Pub Company used to be great - since St Austell have been involved they have really gone down hill. If you want a good gastro pub in this part of town I'd try the Chequers or even Beckford Canteen instead.

Dear Edward, Thank you for your feedback. Guest satisfaction is our top priority, and we are disappointed to hear about your recent experience. It seems that due to guests arriving early, our booking system allowed another reservation, which led us to request your table back earlier than planned. I sincerely apologise for this and I understand how it affected you and your party. While St Austell now own the building, they have nothing to do with the day to day running of the pub. We had a table booked for 4 adults and 2 children, we also had 4 dogs with us, the food was great the service was great but unfortunately one of the customers was very rude to the point of using foul language at us in front of the children and this was because one of the dogs walked past and sniffed him, the pub is dog friendly so my advice is if you don’t like dogs go somewhere where dogs aren’t allowed.
