Just around the corner from Bath's Royal Crescent, The Marlborough Tavern combines the atmosphere of a local pub with the food quality you’d expect of a top restaurant. Two AA rosettes, and inclusions in The Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide bear testimony to the quality of both food and service. It’s no wonder it's won the Bath Gastropub of the Year title more than any competitors.

Food is essentially, though not slavishly, English in character and takes advantage of locally sourced produce wherever possible. Its food reputation is matched by their service - always friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and there's an extensive wine list and selection of local ales to choose from. The Marlborough's pub garden is arguably Bath’s finest; a walled courtyard space, that’s perfect for summertime lunching and drinking.

The experience of the Marlborough tavern was amazing but the process of writing the review was a nightmare. Verification but phone number was fine but verification by email defeated me on the first two attempts. Couldn’t get back to the screen to put in the verification code. Two factor verification for a review?!!!

If it wasn’t for the nice lad serving us I would have been more disappointed. This place has clearly lost its edge from a food perspective, I appreciate the industry is struggling for good chefs, but at the prices being charged here you expect top quality and this was really disappointing. £25 for a pork tomahawk the size of a lamb cutlet and £29.50 for over cooked monkfish. The food being served here is what you’d expect from a chain, brewers fayer or green king but with a premium price tag. Either review your pricing structure to match the food quality. Or get a better chef. Simple.

I have eaten here many times and it is in walking distance from my flat. It’s my goto local. Last time a table for four on a Sunday evening. Roast dinners and one fish n chips. Brilliant. Time before I had a fantastic Pork Tomahawk. It was the best pork chop ever. Previous reviewer was either wrong or unlucky. Try it. Bitters selection could be better. Martin

6 of us had dinner on Sunday, 3 Sunday lunches and 3 other choices. All the food was delicious, the food came quickly and the waiting staff were very friendly. Would go again.
