Our larger spaces are located in the upstairs portion of our restaurant, and our Wine Room is located on the main floor.

    We had dinner at The Local a couple days ago. We ordered the Crab Soup, the special Burrata and Heirloom Caprese salad, and the Short Ribs. As a Marylander, I have to admit that I am a little bit of a snob when it comes to crab dishes. So take my comments with a "grain of salt", but I thought the Crap Soup was a little bland. I did ask for some Old Bay spice to add to it, which made it tasty. The Burrata and Heirloom Caprese salad was fabulous! The cheese was very fresh and the tomatoes clearly garden-picked. Wonderful! The Short Ribs, whipped potatoes and carrots were tasty, but a couple pieces of feedback: the entree, soup and salad all came out at the same time which was awkward; the entree short ribs were tepid/room temperature at best and so we ate that first before it got cold; and the carrots were the cheap snack carrots - not what I would expect. There was also a lack of sauce. So, I have to admit that I was disappointed based on the previous reviews and what I expected. But overall it was a good restaurant and I would try it again as I think the place is darling, and the menu seems like a great farm to table option.

    We had mentioned in the reservation that we we’re celebrating our 48 year anniversary. We were an extremely noisy area and we were near the bar and we were trying to celebrate the evening and we couldn’t even hear ourselves talk to each other. We didn’t realize there was an upstairs that was much more quieter until later and if we were offered that we would’ve taken the quieter area. The meals were OK however, the meat selection was small with the chicken and our meals came out extremely quickly as if they were already cooked. My chicken dish was lukewarm. Food Presentation was below average. We were supposed to have a baguette according to the menu, however, they did not have baguettes and we were presented with over toasted Cristini‘s. The only positive part of the meal was our waitress. Our waitress was fine and we were pleased with her service to us..

    The atmosphere, food and service were outstanding! We had the meatloaf and the short ribs. Both on mashed potatoes, with asparagus and carrots. Each entree was more than enough food. I will definitely visit this restaurant again next time I am in Charlottesville.

    All round great value & servers really nice. Great slow-cooked ribs! Didn’t see parking lot so parked on street nearby.

    This was our first experience at Local and we had a great experience. Of our four entrees, two were excellent and the other two were good, but could have been a bit better. Service was outstanding - we will definitely be back. Thank you!

    Great food, sat in the Wine room. There was a big party in there and us. Very noisy!

    Very popular with the Cville crowd and for good reason. Excellent drinks, relaxed atmosphere and good value.

    Overcooked steak- is med rare that hard. Steak was also overly fatty that left 1/3 being fat. Seasoning- did someone forget that hanger steak and short rib needs some seasoning. Brussels sprouts were to large in the appetizers and the cauliflower was almost nonexistent. We have not been out to the local in a year and I must say that we will not be returning. Many thanks to when the restaurant was better.
