This is hands down our favourite place to dine. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a warm welcome and seated with fast service. From the first drink to dessert you are engulfed with pure satisfaction and first class service! Thank you Ethan and Chris for the great service!

What a treat! The variety and quality of food was incredible. Everything we ate was delicious. The waiter waited on a table of guests who had just sat down. We had been waiting for 5-10 minutes for a waiter. He may not have known who got there first. When we wanted coffee, we waited for a few minutes and then asked the another server who promptly got us coffee. These were not huge issues. Just not quite what we’d expected at such a lovely restaurant.

We have not been to The Gates since 2017. The buffet is not worth the price.

We went for a special birthday celebration and they did not disappoint. When we made the reservations we had some stipulations such as 1 person had a gluten sensitivity and another was hard of hearing while another had pain issues. They addressed all of these discreetly and efficiently. We were seated at an out of the way table, the music was turned lower for us and they put cushions on our chairs for comfort. Also, because of these issues we are not ones to linger over a lengthy dinner so explained to our server that we would like our meal as soon as it was ready and we didn’t need much time between courses, etc. The only small criticism we had was that we did wait longer for our server to check on us and finally bring our bill. It was a Saturday however and the place was getting busy so they had several other tables to check on by the time we were ready for our bill. But the food was exceptional. We all ended up having the prime rib and when I say it was the best prime rib I’ve ever had that is not exaggerating! I had been craving the prime rib ever since my previous visit! One of our dining companions commented that it was “perfection”! And it really was! It was expertly done to our individual liking, the seasoning was on point and it just melted in our mouths. It was accompanied by the creamiest mashed potatoes, lovely tender crisp veggies and gluten free au jus as well as some warm rolls and jalapeño spiced corn bread for those who weren’t gluten sensitive and gluten free bread for the gluten sensitive person. The accompanying Yorkshire pudding (for those without gluten sensitivities) was not very good but everything else was fantastic. Because the restaurant is situated just outside city limits it lends itself to a quiet, serene dining experience. We all agreed that we would definitely be back and that it was a wonderful overall experience. Bravo!

Four of us had dinner around 7:00 PM on June 27th. Two of our guests were out of town (Ontario). Our guests were so impressed with the ambiance of the restaurant and the surrounding property. (After dinner we visited with rusty the horse who was very friendly.) We had the prime rib and pickerel. I also started mushroom soup. These dishes were simply outstanding and delicious. Generous portions. I only wish baked potatoes were available. The service was extremely friendly and professional. Courses were served on a timely basis. Our table was nicely spaced away from other patrons. It was a great experience - thank you!
