The Duncombe Arms is a beautiful, traditional country pub situated at the heart of the lovely rural village of Ellastone on the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border. Located on the edge of the Peak District near the towns of Ashbourne and Uttoxeter it is a great place to visit providing a delightful setting in which to enjoy a drink, some lovely food, as well as a chat with friends or family.

Come inside and enjoy a roaring log fire, sample our excellent range of beers and wines or enjoy fabulous food from our award-winning chef Jake Boyce. Or in the summer you can laze in our large garden overlooking the view to Worthy Island Wood.

Three of us ate here on Tuesday Sept 17. It was a late decision to eat out. Using the online facility to find a table was great. We only had a different main course and all were excellent. The portion were ideal for us. Service was a little slow but staff were polite and friendly. The selection of wine by the glass was satisfactory and the wines chosen was enjoyable. The two ladies decided to have a dessert - baked Alaska- which was scored as superb. Overall a very pleasant and enjoyable experience.

The food and service was very good the atmosphere and the place it’s self is very very nice , my only gripe was the service charge which was £15.00 I certainly don’t mind giving a tip but I don’t agree with the service going onto the drinks also I’ll be back

Very good food and great service.We ate in the bar area as the restaurant wasn’t available but it’s was very good.I’d recommend.

A lovely, warm atmosphere with various dining areas making it feel intimate even though there are a good number of covers. Great choices on the menu. We were staying so ate there for two nights and the menu had changes on the second night offering more choices! The wine offerings are brilliant. They offer more choices by the glass than I have ever seen. Imagine Chablis and Sancerre by the glass? If you can stay here as well as eat here, go for it!

Sunday lunch was excellent, with a couple of different offerings other than the traditional Sunday roast. Starters were delicious, soufflé for my husband and moules for myself. It was our anniversary so it was made extra special by the team from the Duncombe Arms with a surprise card from the team. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, so the overall experience for our anniversary lunch was excellent and we will definitely be back.

We have been frequenting this establishment for over 10yrs now since moving to the area. We dine out at many restaraunts in and out of the area, but nothing compares to here, we always say the Duncombe Arms for us sets the bench mark with quality and consistency. We are thrilled to have such a great local, you do a fabulous job thank you as always...

Truly great food. Efficient unobtrusive friendly service. One of us had a dairy allergy and they instantly produced a dairy free menu, making choosing safe options easy. Some background music but not so loud that we couldn't chat easily. Nice ambience, very pleasant surroundings to eat. Would definitely go there again.
