The Duncombe Arms is a beautiful, traditional country pub situated at the heart of the lovely rural village of Ellastone on the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border. Located on the edge of the Peak District near the towns of Ashbourne and Uttoxeter it is a great place to visit providing a delightful setting in which to enjoy a drink, some lovely food, as well as a chat with friends or family.

Come inside and enjoy a roaring log fire, sample our excellent range of beers and wines or enjoy fabulous food from our award-winning chef Jake Boyce. Or in the summer you can laze in our large garden overlooking the view to Worthy Island Wood.

Very nice food, lobster Arnold bennett particularly good. Cod main course particularly well cooked. Great wine selection

We sat in the Garden Room, which was beautifully set out, each seat had a blanket, Our waitress was always on hand, and leaving enough time between courses. We had the lunch set menu, The gazpacho soup, pork belly rib, seasonal green veg risotto and apple tarte tatin with sauce and ice cream, were absolutely delicious. To drink I had the sparkling rose which was gorgeous, and husband was happy to have pedigree - it’s getting increasingly hard to get a decent pint of beer anywhere! We would recommend!

We were given a voucher for my birthday. The car park was busy and we got the last space. The experience was very good. Food arrived quickly without us being rushed. My husband had the ribeye steak and I had the Barnsley chop. I could have done with a steak knife. Portions aren't huge, but that suits our appetites. The only thing that spoilt the experience for us was the fact that it is dog friendly. We love dogs but were unlucky that people at the next table had two that were allowed to jump up at the table and were being hand fed.

Sunday lunch here was a generally good. The service slightly odd. The serving staff bring food and no cutlery until we asked. Waited 45 + for mains and had to chase the waiter for water etc Delicious starter of gazpacho Desserts special too Worth a visit

I booked the Duncombe Arms as we visited last year and really enjoyed the food - so it was my husband's 70th birthday and we wanted to take our friends along too as we had recommended them. The four of us arrived to a great welcome into the covered outside area - it is June after all! There were heaters and blankets as the weather was scorchio all week - and changed for our meal. C'est la vie. Superb starters. Magnificent mains. Perfect puddings. Prosecco - Wine - Beer and tonic water for our driver. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the staff were excellent. Thank you.

Very nice meal in the garden room. We met friends that we hadn’t seen for quite a while and so We stayed very late and were not made to feel we were holding anyone up. Lovely lady joined in our conversation about quantum mechanics and we had a great chat with her. Great night.

Visited a few times now and the quality of the food is excellent. The only disappointment on this occasion was the unavailability of several menu items. We were advised initially of several items no longer available but post ordering other items also became unavailable and we had to amend our choices. A little disappointing as we were celebrating a birthday, had travelled a fair distance and it wasn’t particularly busy so to run out of items was surprising.
