The Duncombe Arms is a beautiful, traditional country pub situated at the heart of the lovely rural village of Ellastone on the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border. Located on the edge of the Peak District near the towns of Ashbourne and Uttoxeter it is a great place to visit providing a delightful setting in which to enjoy a drink, some lovely food, as well as a chat with friends or family.

Come inside and enjoy a roaring log fire, sample our excellent range of beers and wines or enjoy fabulous food from our award-winning chef Jake Boyce. Or in the summer you can laze in our large garden overlooking the view to Worthy Island Wood.

Visited a few times now and the quality of the food is excellent. The only disappointment on this occasion was the unavailability of several menu items. We were advised initially of several items no longer available but post ordering other items also became unavailable and we had to amend our choices. A little disappointing as we were celebrating a birthday, had travelled a fair distance and it wasn’t particularly busy so to run out of items was surprising.

Absolutely beautiful, food tasty, presentation excellent, the staff were friendly and professional. Lovely pub we were staying at Alton towers so 15 min drive from there for dinner but well worth it. The pork was a fav and the desserts just wow 🤩 Highly recommend, lovely wines/beer choices Thank you

The service was friendly, informed and polite, with recommendations being made and our questions answered openly. The food was innovative, of very high quality, and cooked to perfection. Whilst probably a few pounds more per head than other local pubs/restaurants, this dinner was certainly worth it. Would highly recommend.

Excellent menu choices, well cooked and beautifully presented Staff were friendly and welcoming and provided very good service. Would highly recommend, especially for a special occasion. Lovely garden and high standard of furnishings in restaurant make for a very enjoyable experience.

Food was lovely but the service was just ok we came for our 40 th wedding anniversary just didn’t feel very special. We have been once before which we enjoyed more so was a little disappointed

We go regularly as it's our nearest restaurant. In fact we must have been a hundred times since it reopened in 2012! Birthdays ,Christmas, lunches, new year, leaving do's, and recently retirements! I am always happy to go as it is very consistent and a nice ambience Saturday lunch for an Engagement was just as lovely as usual, fish pie, steak and chips, a gourmet burger and a sourdough sandwich and fries. Good service is the norm here. My only criticism is that in all our 100+ visits we are never welcomed as regular diners despite our 12 years of visiting. Just a sign of recognition or even, when we put on our booking "special birthday " maybe some acknowledgement of the occasion? I just think it would make the visit more special, as we consider it to be. Won't stop us coming every month tho as we do enjoy our visits.

We were looked after very well from the start to the end of our visit. The food was beautiful as usual. We would definitely recommend. Thank you to all the staff, an enjoyable night.
