The Duncombe Arms is a beautiful, traditional country pub situated at the heart of the lovely rural village of Ellastone on the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border. Located on the edge of the Peak District near the towns of Ashbourne and Uttoxeter it is a great place to visit providing a delightful setting in which to enjoy a drink, some lovely food, as well as a chat with friends or family.

Come inside and enjoy a roaring log fire, sample our excellent range of beers and wines or enjoy fabulous food from our award-winning chef Jake Boyce. Or in the summer you can laze in our large garden overlooking the view to Worthy Island Wood.

Truly great food. Efficient unobtrusive friendly service. One of us had a dairy allergy and they instantly produced a dairy free menu, making choosing safe options easy. Some background music but not so loud that we couldn't chat easily. Nice ambience, very pleasant surroundings to eat. Would definitely go there again.

Just the perfect balance of a bit special and comfy cosy dining and drinking! Nothing around beats the quality and we are never disappointed

It was a great experience, the quality and choices were exceptional. My wife is a coeliac and for a change she had a really good selection to choose from that were actually off the main menu. We had a good time.

We entertained friends and went for Sunday lunch, we all enjoyed the whole experience and we thought the food was scrummy!

Service okay, portion size and choice not as good as previous visits. Coffee excellent but back next week to try again.

I ate here on Saturday August 24mwith my wife. We ere seated quickly and location was good. Menu offered plenty of choice. My wife had duck and I had the poussin - both were very good. We ordered wine by the glass. There was plenty of choice and what we ordered was excellent. The only disappointment for us was the selection of desserts. This probably a personal issue not a criticism of the offerings. Overall an enjoyable dinner.

Food is extremely over priced for the outcome you recieve. Sat at the table for 1 hour 30 mins, no waiter come to us after taking our food order, didn’t have a drink for the meal. Waited 20 minutes for the bill and ended up paying at the bar on our way out! £85 for a average hungry horse meal!

We stopped over on our way to the Lake District and what a fabulous pub with rooms. The food was amazing and the chocolate choux bun with honeycomb ice cream was exceptional. The buzz buzz red wine I shall need to find that one as that went down very easily. If we pass anywhere near again then this is a must return to place. Can’t recommend highly enough.
