The Duncombe Arms is a beautiful, traditional country pub situated at the heart of the lovely rural village of Ellastone on the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border. Located on the edge of the Peak District near the towns of Ashbourne and Uttoxeter it is a great place to visit providing a delightful setting in which to enjoy a drink, some lovely food, as well as a chat with friends or family.

Come inside and enjoy a roaring log fire, sample our excellent range of beers and wines or enjoy fabulous food from our award-winning chef Jake Boyce. Or in the summer you can laze in our large garden overlooking the view to Worthy Island Wood.

    Sunday lunch here was a generally good. The service slightly odd. The serving staff bring food and no cutlery until we asked. Waited 45 + for mains and had to chase the waiter for water etc Delicious starter of gazpacho Desserts special too Worth a visit

    I booked the Duncombe Arms as we visited last year and really enjoyed the food - so it was my husband's 70th birthday and we wanted to take our friends along too as we had recommended them. The four of us arrived to a great welcome into the covered outside area - it is June after all! There were heaters and blankets as the weather was scorchio all week - and changed for our meal. C'est la vie. Superb starters. Magnificent mains. Perfect puddings. Prosecco - Wine - Beer and tonic water for our driver. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the staff were excellent. Thank you.

    Very nice meal in the garden room. We met friends that we hadn’t seen for quite a while and so We stayed very late and were not made to feel we were holding anyone up. Lovely lady joined in our conversation about quantum mechanics and we had a great chat with her. Great night.

    Visited a few times now and the quality of the food is excellent. The only disappointment on this occasion was the unavailability of several menu items. We were advised initially of several items no longer available but post ordering other items also became unavailable and we had to amend our choices. A little disappointing as we were celebrating a birthday, had travelled a fair distance and it wasn’t particularly busy so to run out of items was surprising.

    Absolutely beautiful, food tasty, presentation excellent, the staff were friendly and professional. Lovely pub we were staying at Alton towers so 15 min drive from there for dinner but well worth it. The pork was a fav and the desserts just wow 🤩 Highly recommend, lovely wines/beer choices Thank you

    The service was friendly, informed and polite, with recommendations being made and our questions answered openly. The food was innovative, of very high quality, and cooked to perfection. Whilst probably a few pounds more per head than other local pubs/restaurants, this dinner was certainly worth it. Would highly recommend.

    Excellent menu choices, well cooked and beautifully presented Staff were friendly and welcoming and provided very good service. Would highly recommend, especially for a special occasion. Lovely garden and high standard of furnishings in restaurant make for a very enjoyable experience.

    Food was lovely but the service was just ok we came for our 40 th wedding anniversary just didn’t feel very special. We have been once before which we enjoyed more so was a little disappointed
