Welcome to The Dorset Arms, one of Sussex's best kept secrets..

The Dorset Arms Public House in Withyham is an 18th century alehouse situated in the outstandingly beautiful Sussex Weald. Part of the historic Buckhurst Estate, the pub is named after the Earls and Dukes of Dorset, one time heads of the Sackville family, and shares a heritage of family ownership now headed by their descendant, the present Earl De La Warr.

Showcasing the best of what Sussex has to offer, our Head Chef has fine-tuned the classics and combined them with modern British dishes to provide a diverse and exciting menu.

We have our Garden Room that seats 3 stunning private drinks/dining lodges themed around Apres Ski in our garden that are available for hire. They are the perfect venue for any celebration you are planning. Two of our 3 lodges seat 10 guests and the third can accommodate 24 seated and 30 standing guests.

Had a lovely Saturday dinner here. Popcorn clams and grilled padron peppers were absolutely delightful and both our main courses - fish pie and pan fried hake - were delicious and generous in size. The service was absolutely on point and with a smile. We'll definitely be going back.

Lovely venue for Sunday lunch to meet up with friends. Varied menu suitable for all tastes. Service was excellent, very attentive but remaining in the back ground. We will be returning.

With two dogs we ate in the garden room which was rather bleak with no windows and was a passage for servers. Quite an interesting menu but expensive.

Delicious roast beef, cooked pink just how we like it, with very tasty Yorkshires, roast potatoes and fresh veg. Lovely friendly staff, and the service was very efficient. Nice desserts too. Good wine list. What more do you need? The beer garden looked great as well. We’ll definitely return.

Enjoyed my visit to The Dorset Arms and perfectly happy with the food. A little expensive though including the beer. Service very good and the pub had a nice relaxing atmosphere. Will certainly return.

Very good food and friendly staff. We thought that the main dishes could have included more vegetables, but the food was good quality and served well.

Very much a destination pub for us but having read the reviews decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed, location was great,service was excellent, food was great, prices were as expected. Can recommend.
