The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.

We welcome children over the age of 7. Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room

A warm welcome when we arrived at The Cat and we were offered a couple of alternative tables. Drinks and cutlery arrived in good time. We both chose items from the specials board; a crab starter and cod main course with additional vegetables. The meal was faultless. It was the best meal we've eaten out in a very long time. The cod was perfectly cooked, unlike the majority of places that overcook fish making it tasteless and dry. The selection of vegetables was also delicious. We will definitely be making return visits!

Great food & great staff. My wife is a Gluten Free Vegetarian (otherwise known as a pain in the @£$€) & they could cater for her very well. First time we've been & I always judge a place on it's burger the first time I go anywhere & The Cat burger was great. (not actual cat) 🙀 We'll be visiting again!

We all had the Sunday roast, it was well cooked and very generous. Would recommend.

The service and food quality of this inn are both always superb. What marks this restaurant out further is the attention to detail: outdoor teak furniture that is of a consistent style and perfectly clean, set on a clean patio; attractive rechargeable table lamps that are of a high quality and tall enough to provide an attractive and useful ambient light; spotless toilets with sinks operated by electronic readers. There are many other examples, but these should illustrate the impression of exceptional quality that you feel as you enter.
