The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.

We welcome children over the age of 7. Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room

Visited after reading the reviews, looking for somewhere decent for dinner whilst working in the east grinstead area. Met all of my expectations from the arrival, pleasant seating area near the bar, menu and specials boards with a fair selection and efficient service. Each course was fantastic (cod cheeks starter, homemade pie and mango mousse dessert). If I were pedantic I’d have liked more seasoning in pie and gravy, but I only say that as it was so good. Overall it was a lovely meal and I wish they were nearer where I live so I could visit more often. VFM very good with three courses and a beer for £45.

Three of us had an excellent dinner together at the Cat. Food was top notch, staff and service could not have been better. Will be going back soon. Highly recommend.

Service was very, very good apart from being awkwardly ignored when we first arrived for a few minutes. It is so important that however busy, or uncertain about their duties, staff smile and say hello as soon as customers arrive. After that I couldn't fault service, everyone was so friendly and treated us so well. The food was delicious as always.

A very enjoyable visit to The Cat as always, slightly disappointed with my dessert, but, nevertheless, I'd still give it a 5* rating overall

Another excellent meal to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We wouldn’t go anywhere else. Always a warm welcome and excellent value for money food.

Food was nice but the we were constantly being asked if we were finished and the minute our starter was cleared within seconds a full plate of main was on our table. We had no breathing space to let the food go down and the waitress was pushy as if they were trying to get us out the door so they could finish their shift. It’s only a Sunday afternoon. The wine is charged £40 a bottle when you can actually buy it in a shop for £13…. Talk about inflation. We won’t be going back!

We went for Sunday roast and it was brilliant! Great food, quick and very attentive service. Would highly recommend!

Superb food. Pleasant, courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Three adults enjoying a birthday lunch. Thanks for the birthday wishes given by our waitresses and the candle on the pudding. Look forward to eating with you again very soon.
