The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.

We welcome children over the age of 7. Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room

What can I say excellent in everything and ambience was great only exception was the wines were quite expensive

Cat Inn is very good. Which is why we go back regularly. However your website is a nightmare to navigate.

Thank you for your review. I’m not sure how the website is a nightmare to navigate. Book a table is clearly marked, and then you go to open table to make the reservation. Yes we do require cc details to secure reservations. - too many no shows in the past on key days. Perhaps you could call me to explain how the site is a ‘nightmare to navigate’, as we want to make it as simple as possible for users to use and make a booking. Andrew

Wonderful food, a great dog friendly table & even a little birthday surprise for my Mum - couldn’t ask for more & will definitely be returning soon

Another amazing experience at The Cat Inn for lunch on Saturday. The food, as always, was spectacular and Lisa and the team looked after us so well, we almost forgot to go home! Thank you so much for another great afternoon.

From walking through the door, the service was exemplary. The staff were helpful and courteous. The food is gorgeous, beautifully cooked and presented. Will certainly be returning.

Always receive lovely welcome from front of house. All staff jolly and hospitable. Food always delicious. Lovely touch as friends birthday so she was made to feel special. Will always return! Thank you to The Cat! 🙏🥰

Lovely evening as always. We took our sons who loved it as much as we do. The passion fruit soufflé was delicious. Great way to end the meal. Andrew and his team were brilliant. Thank you x
