The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.

We welcome children over the age of 7. Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room

All the staff were wonderful and helpfully flexible when I got part of my order wrong. It had a very good atmosphere and was not too noisy. The food was OK, but it felt like they were trying a bit hard to be cheffy and in trying to make 'posh food', they fell short of the 'great meal' bullseye. Thought and creativity had gone into each dish but I couldn't call any of the dishes in each of the 3 courses really tasty . OK, yes, but that's it. I'm afraid the wine list was not very inspiring and although I only tried one wine by the glass, sadly it was a bit 'supermarkety' - not very exciting. As a place, it's really nice to dine in, but it could be improved if the priority was a bit more on a great tasting meal than food ideas. Having said all that, it certainly was good value.

An excellent meal as ever. Great food, atmosphere and the staff were as attentive and friendly as ever!

I think that the food was of a good standard but the turkey and the mains were a little bit of a let down. I would have liked the turkey straight from the bird and had more roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding. The turkey seemed like from caterers.

Ambience was just right and Christmassy. Service was very friendly and timely My meal was delicious- all three of the Specials. A real treat! My husband and son had the calamari salad which they both thoroughly enjoyed. The burger was very good but my husband didn’t overly enjoy the pie unfortunately- nothing special. But we had a very pleasant evening for our anniversary. Thank you and we’ll definitely be back again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our night’s stay with dinner. The bar area and dining area in the old part of the building are really cozy with open fires. The food at dinner was amazing! Breakfast was also a real feast. I would highly recommend

We really enjoyed our lunch, the food and service was great. There was no service charge automatically added to the bill which makes a refreshing change these days. Our waitress was polite, friendly and checked things with the kitchen for us, she deserved the tip. I’m a veggie and can say that the veggie main was one of the best pub veggie dishes I have had in a long time. Would recommend
