The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.

We welcome children over the age of 7. Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room

The food here is excellent, we live in Tunbridge Wells, but it's worth the drive. Highly recommend.

We had a great lunch for three of us. The only challenge was choosing from the many excellent choices on the menu. The staff were so friendly and attentive. A great place which lived up to our memories of previous visits.

Wonderful venue! Fantastic lunch service today, all the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was excellent, plenty of choice and well priced. I had the ribeye steak which I thoroughly enjoyed. My friend had fish and chips, she commented on how nice her meal was. Both plates were well presented and hot to the table. Very impressed - will definitely return! 5 star

We always enjoy our visit to The Cat, the staff ate exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the room No.3 is cosy and offers an interesting view of the church and village street. The lightly spiced cod was delicious, along with the rest of the dish, and the blue cheese arricini was an interesting and pleasant taste to begin the meal. Breakfast was as good as normal with options to suit our tastes. Most enjoyable, as always.

A thoroughly enjoyable mid-week lunch at The Cat. Excellent all-round experience and delicious, well presented food, which is much better than most other pubs/restaurants in the Sussex area. The Cat thoroughly deserves its excellent reputation and we certainly weren't disappointed.

Lovely lunch with friends. The pub has a great atmosphere. Friendly, efficient service and tasty food. Parking a bit of a challenge as car park full but apparently there is an overflow down the road which we didn’t know about.

It had been a year since we last visited The Cat and we certainly weren’t disappointed today. All the staff are so friendly and pleased to see us. The service is outstanding. Food fantastic. My husband hasn’t been well over the last six months and this was an absolute tonic visiting The Cat today. Highly recommended pub!

Wonderful and warm welcome. We sat by the open fire and it was lovely and cozy. The food was delicious and the service was brilliant. Thank you team.
