   Not the Capitol Grille experience I am used to. Capitol Grille is my favorite “special occasion” restaurant. We went here the night we got engaged, to celebrate promotions, birthdays … it’s a special restaurant to my family. I have been to the Capitol Grilles in Detroit, St. Louis, and DC. I’ve had a consistently excellent service and food experience for 20 years. Last night I went to the one in Memphis for the first time. It was a very different experience and did not meet my expectations. The food was delicious. The service and organization of the restaurant was the problem. I do not believe it was our servers fault but here’s what was disappointing compared to the other restaurants: -wine service took 20-30 minutes from ordering to delivery. 10-15 minutes after I ordered it, the server came back to double check my order and had the wrong bottle and then finally when we were midway through eating our steak the wine arrived. -the brussel sprouts with bacon arrived and there was not a piece of bacon to be found. I made the server aware and they gave us a new batch, but this time they were five pieces of bacon fat on top and not the usually generous delicious chunks of bacon. I wonder if they ran out and tried to pull a fast one on us? And then when we called it out, they gave us some scraps? -the food was delivered to the wrong people at our table and we got another customer’s side. -We got the bill for another table. -when we got our bill, we provided two gift certificates and a credit card. The manager came by to tell us he was having trouble with one of the gift cards and we resolved that rather quickly, but then didn’t come back with our bill for 15 minutes. I got up and tracked down someone and the manager comes over again 10 minutes later and said he hadn’t been honest and they had lost our credit card and were still trying to find it. Short ending is they found it, comped us part of our meal but it was a complete hour-long disaster on my dad’s 82nd bday.

   Easter Brunch was not quite as advertised. Blueberry bread for table was only one piece for two of us to share. We purchased mimosas, but complementary champagne was advertised. The brunch offerings were fair. Perhaps the price should be increased to offer a better brunch experience. We were considering attending the Mother’s Day brunch before today’s experience. Now we will need to think about it. Our server, Carleigh, was outstanding! She did everything she could to make our experience a pleasant one.

   We had a lovely experience dining at the Capitol Grille. The ambiance was extraordinary and the food was very delicious. We felt special on our special occasion.

   We had a wonderful time for our friends 35 birthday. Food was excellent. Nathan was our waiter and he was fantastic.

   It was amazing, easy the best experience in Memphis, fantastic food, super nice place, and Kyle service was awesome
