We went for Sunday lunch. Party of six. Between us we had all the options and every one was excellent.

Food was amazing, started with the haggis on toast, the creamed spinach and the monkfish cheeks which were all delicious. Four of us had two half ducks for our main and another had the ribeye steak, which were both cooked beautifully with very good portion sizes. We ordered the children’s fish and chips for the toddler (which she demolished). They said they can make a children’s sized portion of most of the menu which I thought was a really nice touch too. Staff were on it at all times with drinks and making sure the table was cleared. They were very accommodating with the toddler and the high chair was already set up before we arrived. They were extremely polite and seemed to genuinely enjoy their work. They very clearly care greatly about their customers and making sure that everyone has a great experience. The house wine was great and they keep their cask beers better than anyone I know in the city. Couldn’t recommend more and will definitely be coming back!

The broad chare is somewhere I have wanted to try for ages and it did not disappoint. The ambiance was really nice and the staff were very good at their job. I especially liked that plenty of time was given between each course so you could relax and chat. Nothing felt rushed and it felt like a special dining experience. The starters were very good and the mains delicious. The only thing I would change is the cheeseboard, it was not on par with the rest of the dishes. It was three cheeses shoved on a plate with some chutney and crackers.

We had an excellent lunch at this friendly, relaxed restaurant. I had the Cornish Pollock, Crab Bisque etc and it was excellent. My colleague had the Glazed Bacon chop etc which he really enjoyed. Washed down with a pint of Writers Block. An excellent restaurant I highly recommend.
