The Boathouse at Saugatuck is an exciting American seafood restaurant with panoramic views of the Saugatuck River. House in the Saugatuck Rowing Club, this Westport restaurant is situated on the second floor (elevator accessible) with indoor as well as limited outdoor dining on our covered deck and first floor water front terrace when weather permits.

If you are not able to book on OpenTable, please call us at 203-227-3399 and depending upon availability, we may be able to accommodate you. We are limiting bookings to 90 minutes. If you are more than 15 minutes late your reservation is at risk. Please take travel time into account in order to be on time.

We will make every attempt to honor reservation requests for our upstairs deck. However, due to limited seating outdoors, high demand and the ever changing weather, we cannot guarantee seating on the deck.

Requesting "Outdoor Seating" on your OpenTable reservation does not guarantee a table is available at the time you request.

If you want a rubbery chicken Milanese with an overly dressed, cloying salad all wrapped up with blaring 80’s music in the background detracting from the lovely setting, then look no further….this is your place! Our dinner last night was inexcusably poor. I couldn’t even cut into my rubbery, overly fried chicken Milanese cutlet as the knife was so blunt! There were 3 tables of diners , mostly elderly and I really struggle to understand why the manager choose to play very loud, ridiculous 80’s music during the 1 1/2 hours we were there trying to enjoy an elegant evening out with our neighbors. Someone really needs to have a firm word with him and the restaurant really needs a reset as the food was absolutely appalling. We will not be returning as the meal for four cost nearly $350.00 before adding a tip for service. It could have been diner food…the whole experience was very bad indeed.

Wonderful late summer day and setting. Grey Moose Martini, straight up, stirred not shaken, perfectly made. NY Strip steak ordered medium rare, came to the table medium well done and was replaced with another NY Strip which was made medium rare, but the steak itself had large amounts of grizzle. Mussels Meuniere, were over cooked, but flavorful. I give the grade a "B." It could have been better, but was adequate. The setting and the weather is what elevated its score, to what I gave it.

I took my daughter to lunch and we wanted a beautiful view with some delicious seafood! The oysters were gigantic and so fresh!! We both had lobster rolls that were delicious and very stuffed. Our server was very attentive. We sat on the balcony and it was just gorgeous! Very happy to have had a great day with her!

Limited menu. Cesar salad had soaky croutons. Salad was probably prepared the day prior. Slow service. Ended up leaving after the appetizer. A shame. It’s such a beautiful place.

We ate dinner on the outdoor covered veranda of The Boathouse. The setting is idylic - one floor up, overlooking the harbor of the river. The service was superb - attentive waiters, food delivered promptly at correct temperature. The quality of the food - from appetizer crab cakes, to generous main dish of well-prepared branzino and vegetables, to lovely dessert menu and delicious assortment of gelato scoops... the meal was way above expectations. Despite an open-table posted notice that a group of 3 would have only 90 minutes to dine, we lingered much longer with no sense of urgency. Only shortcoming - no vegetarian selections for dinner on the menu

I’m sure the food is great, but the ambiance wasn’t there for us, so we left. They sat us in a far corner that had no lights, next to a busy bar, and my husband’s seat was so low he felt like a toddler in a chair. It’s patio furniture you’re sitting on…that doesn’t actually fit the table height. Once I saw the sad wine list, I realized this wasn’t where I wanted to have a special date night with my husband. Hope I catch them on a beautiful day where we can sit outside and have a different experience.
