Gather at the Blue Pig Tavern, our distinctive restaurant tucked in the corner of Congress Hall. Known for hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner favorites, its name derives from a gambling parlor sited in Congress Hall in the mid-1800s. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May. Today, we offer timeless classics and new seasonal delights with ingredients that are always farm-fresh.

This was our first time eating at the Blue Pig and staying at Congress Hall. The food was delicious. The service was professional and friendly. If there was a negative, we felt it was a little too dark. We get ambience but every person there had to use their phone light to read their menu.

It was a nice fall evening on the patio and the food was very good and the service good. We really enjoyed the experience and the beautiful fall decor.

The manager that was working last night was ineffective and should be fired. We made several complaints about a drunk and obnoxiously loud party of women. Three times!!!! The managers conduct was unprofessional and argumentative. Many people dining were visibly upset about the noise and yet you continued to serve them alcohol!

One meal (short ribs) was good. The other (sea bass) came out “cool” (not hot). This was quickly remedied (good service) but the sauce didn’t do much for the dish. Restaurant was a bit noisy as well.

There is a limited menu. Can be a little noisy. Prices are OK and the service was decent.

The service was very good, our drinks were delicious, the beet salad was amazing, and the food was ok. The problem we had was that the restaurant was so dark, we could not read the menu without our flashlights. Further, we could not see our food when it arrived. We basically ate in the dark. There were areas of the restaurant that seemed to have better lighting, but our table was tucked in. We were disappointed that we could not see our food without a flashlight.

I made a reservation on open table. When I got there they sat us out side. I hadn’t requested outside seating so I was surprised and normally would have been thrilled except it was raining and humid and wet outside. My husband had the crab cakes. He said they were the best he ever had. But I had there vegan option which was two big pieces of egg plant charred. One was rubbery the other mushy. It also came with a tiny bit of tomato cucumber salad. That was good. “Upscale” restaurants always seem to miss the mark with a vegan dish. The service was great. Mostly just disappointed with the vegan option and the seating me outside on such an awful weathered day. Although I do have a theory that was because my husband and I had jeans on and we’re not dressed nice enough; as we were never in Cape May and recommended this place by someone and tavern didn’t scream super fancy to us.

Appetizer ..deviled eggs..had an odd taste. Eggplant was good but nothing I would order again. Mussels average ..3 were not open Beef was very good. Not one of the better experiences . Been going there every year for past 9 years
