Gather at the Blue Pig Tavern, our distinctive restaurant tucked in the corner of Congress Hall. Known for hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner favorites, its name derives from a gambling parlor sited in Congress Hall in the mid-1800s. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May. Today, we offer timeless classics and new seasonal delights with ingredients that are always farm-fresh.

    The food was truly the best part of the meal. Our deviled eggs and crab dip appetizers were delicious! The steak frites, bacon wrapped meatloaf, and seared flounder were also wonderful! But,…the noise level was off-putting, the service a bit slow, and since we dined outside with a reservation of 8:15, it was entirely too dark to see our food once it arrived. No outside lights except in one section. I thought this was odd. Also, why are there so many little children eating dinner at 9pm? We made a later reservation hoping to be past the “family hours” of 5, 6, and 7pm. Overall, it was average. Great good but at these price points, expected more.

    We come here every year because we love Congress Hall ! This was probably the best meal we’ve had here in 20 yrs. It was a bit less crowded than normal and a bit quieter, too. We ordered a few things we never had before … crab dip and short ribs! Both were amazing. We also had great special cocktails. We will be back and next time we can say for sure that the food matched the atmosphere!

    Food quality has diminished significantly. Chilean sea bass was on the edge of turning bad

    Great staff! Food is always delicious and fresh. My whole family loves it. We have been coming for many years. Our favorite!

    The Blue Pig never disappoints!! Every restaurant in cape May is way overpriced, I feel the Blue Pig is a fair price for what they give you. Food is always on point and servers are friendly and attentive. Saturday is Prime Rib night and well worth the $45. Everything is fresh and delicious. It’s definitely our top choice in Cape May!!

    The Seabass was so-so. The steak was rare at first when I ordered it medium. They took it back and it came our burnt. It was tasteless and tough. It was noisy and cold too. Trying to do too much instead of doing a few things well. They did take the steak off of our bill.

    Great location and wonderful outdoor dining. However, the food was average considering the prices paid. Glad we tried it out, but would most likely find other dining options on our next visit to Cape May.
