Food and service is "always good" however the pricing is a bit steep and the menu needs a refresh with some new options. My wife and I spent $172.00 (not including tip) on the following: French Soup Half Ceasar Salad Ribeye Burger 2 Red Wine' 2 Old Fashioned

Definitely worth the wait! Our party of seven booked an 8 pm dinner, and waited until about 8:30 to get seated. The waiter gave us our menus and rushed us to order food and drinks simultaneously. Despite the problems with the front of the house, the chef got it all right! We would recommend with just a little hesitation after our experience.

The best part of our dining experience was our server who was attentive and accommodating. Our meal was pretty ordinary if not sub par. My husband and I started by sharing a caesar salad which was not good — hardly any dressing — we had to ask for more — and the homemade croutons a bad pairing. My ribeye was smothered in a sauce which was tasty and the crunchy onions with the mashed potatoes were good but we have had better, particularly at the price level here. We also shared the shrimp scampi which was good but nothing memorable. Overall, there are better options in the area when we next go out for a fine dining experience.

We have been to the Blacksmith many times over the years, and have never taken the time to do a review. We had another wonderful evening last night, and felt compelled to share. The food was fabulous as always, as was the service. The entire staff has excellent attitudes and are very professional. We are always taken very good care of. The manager, Beka, is top notch. She always stops by to say hello, and communicates well with any special requests. The ambiance is special. There is a quiet energy shared by the staff and patrons. Tables are spaced far enough apart to have a nice relaxed feel. We sincerely hope that the Blacksmith stays as it is, and never changes!

Everything was fabulous. Just one suggestion. It was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant. I would recommend keeping the temperature slightly on the cooler side.

I made a same day reservation and was happy to get in when we did, as my partner works long hours so we weren't sure if we would even be able to go out. We were celebrating my big move to Bend and a new job offer I had just accepted, and I made a note of that on the reservation. As soon as we checked in, I was congratulated by the hostess and our server, derrick who was fabulous, and we were seated at a very lovely intimate table. The menu itself was great and was priced higher than the majority of the other restaurants we looked at i.e Zydeco, Bosa, Roam, Brickhouse, Dear Irene etc. Started with Wonderful Whiskey Cocktails, I had the Wild Orchid and my partner had old fashion, the forgot the flamed orange peel on mine and I asked for the garnish, I was brought back a fresh peel. The flamed peel adds a bit of subtly smokiness and if you know you know, especially if it is listed on the menu and a $14 cocktail. We received an adorable, tasty amuse bouche from the kitchen as a special treat for celebrating and again was told congratulations. We had a delicious, creamed asparagus soup, their rosemary bread with a fab olive oil dijon balsamic glaze and the most unique and fun crab corndogs, all of our appetizers were great and reasonably priced. Entree time, my partner had the surf and turf $70, I had the Ribeye for $65. My ribeye was excellent and cooked perfectly with horseradish potatoes, horseradish was extremely subtle, crispy onions and a mushroom sauce. My partners dish however, was the little surf and turf I have ever seen. It had 4 shrimp, not prawns, petite scallops, now I wasn't expecting a colossal scallops but the size of dimes was lackluster. The sauce it was in was ok flavor wise, with a small portion of crab meat as well. You do not get any side either. I would encourage other dishes to be ordered but don't waste your money on the surf and turf. We will be back because of the impeccable service and drinks, but only in the bar for apps and cocktails.

My husband and I celebrated our 12 year anniversary here while we were visiting Oregon for the first time. The staff were very kind and attentive. Once they knew we were on an anniversary dinner, they made sure to congratulate us and gave a special hors d’oeuvre while we waited for our appetizer. Everything was delicious, and we were impressed with the menu options and the pricing. Overall, we are so happy that we chose Blacksmith!
