Beforenoon Tea

The Assembly House is the home of Beforenoon Tea, the breakfast edit of our award-winning afternoon tea served EVERY DAY in our restaurant between 8am to 11am. Beforenoon Tea makes any day a celebration! The menu includes a slightly smaller version of one of our hot freshly-cooked breakfasts and then the Beforenoon Tea Stand which is filled with treats including a ‘fried egg' mango and vanilla cheesecake and cereal-based cakes and tarts. Savouries include mini cream cheese and smoked salmon croissants, Cheddar Cheese, Colman's Mustard and chive scones with bacon jam, three-cheese toasties and Assembly House sausage rolls. Then choose tea or coffee chocolate mousse. All served with loose leaf English Breakfast tea or coffee!

Available seven days a week from 8am to 11am, our breakfast menu includes favourites such as a Full English Fry-up packed full of local ingredients to Posh Cheese on Toast, our popular Beforenoon Tea (a breakfast edition of our afternoon tea served on three tiers) to our Double-Baked Cheddar and Parmesan Soufflés, Kedgeree to Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on sourdough to Buttermilk Pancakes with berries and creme fraiche or Chocolate...There's something for everyone on the menu! We also have vegan and vegetarian fry-ups available and homemade breakfast beans on toast. Start your day the right way: under chandeliers!

It's the multi-award winning service we're famous for: four gorgeous tiers served under glittering chandeliers between 12pm & 3.30pm! Afternoon Tea at The Assembly House is £32.00 for one (£18.95 for under-12s) plus a 10% discretionary service charge. ALL afternoon teas served are themed, other than for pre-booked private events. Your booking will be for one of several of our dining rooms, including the main restaurant. We look forward to you being our guests! Attended The Assembly House for an afternoon tea experience. The venue is beautiful and transports you to a time of high society, as though you are stepping into an Austen novel. The afternoon tea was beautifully displayed and contained an array of different savoury and sweet treats - be sure to bring your appetite as it is plentiful, however, they are happy to give you a box to take home any extras you didn't manage. Service was a little slow and we had to capture attendants attention rather than be checked upon throughout our service - depends on whether you'd prefer to be left to enjoy or interrupted at regular intervals.

My only wish would be that they use bone china to serve their afternoon tea. Tea tastes infinitely better when drunk from a china teapot and tea cup and it looks so much more refined too! To match the elegant surroundings of The Assembly Rooms.

An outstanding themed afternoon tea with wonderful photo opportunities! The staff were attentive but not intrusive and the food was exemplary, as always. A wonderful venue to celebrate my mum's milestone birthday.

Cakes and savoury bits were nice, took 35 minutes to get a drink, only 1 young girl waited in the small room so taking a while for her to clean things up and service us as well as other people. Aperol spritz turned up and this passion fruits cocktail, absolutely awful and rip of of money! The fresh orange juice was the nicest thing. With the 10/12% tip added on I don’t really think is worth it, and should be an option and not forced. I paid £76 for this me and my mum. Not worth it. The room decor was tacky and couldn’t hear any music just other peoples conversations. Don’t think I would come back again.

Food was delicious and had to box up some cakes to bring home as far too much to eat in one sitting. Really lovely treat.

Afternoon tea for my Mum's 80th birthday. The food was well presented and tasted delicious. The staff were very attentive. The birthday card was a nice surprise. A really enjoyable experience.

Beautiful place, staff where lovely! Had never been there before for afternoon tea, only thing is wasn’t told with afternoon tea you get scones once you’ve eaten. Other than that was a nice time.
