Situé sur la rive sud de la Tamise, à seulement quelques pas de sites d'intérêt tels que le London Eye, l'IMAX et le Royal Festival Hall, le restaurant et bar à vin The Archduke est un lieu incontournable occupant les arches de l'ancienne voie ferrée à proximité de la gare de Waterloo. Premier restaurant à avoir ouvert dans ce quartier de Londres, The Archduke a connu plusieurs transformations depuis 1979 mais n'a rien perdu de son élégance, avec son mobilier simple, ses vieux murs de briques et sa verrière contemporaine. Vous pourrez y déguster une délicieuse cuisine européenne moderne, notamment d'excellents steaks (le restaurant appartient à la chaîne de steakhouses Black and Blue) et du poulet rôti servis avec les accompagnements de votre choix. Le bar accueille 6 soirs par semaine des concerts de jazz, et vous pourrez profiter d'une vue spectaculaire sur le London Eye depuis la terrasse.

I was looking for a quiet place with character - but easy enough to find. The Archduke fits perfectly with our aesthetic and business brand, its cool, quirky and chic. There's a little rumble from the trains - but thats part of the charm. The staff were quick, efficient, there when you want them, busy when you did not. Even when bottling-up, the colleagues were quick to offer help and escorted us. It felt like a small-part of New Orlean with its jazz-esque arrangement of instruments in the lower restaurant and bar with the low level saxophony in the background but left is quiet enought for us to do business. The food was great and we'll definitely be back

Great staff, super friendly and helpful, great vibes, amazing jazz band was playing, and the food was 👌🏼. I loved my visit.

Me and my friend had a fantastic evening at the Archduke. The food and drinks were delicious and all the staff are friendly and helpful, my friend has an allergy and they took the time to go through the menu. We will definitely be back.

Unfortunately, we ordered the steak frites from the set menu, the steak was so dry it was very difficult to eat, and my friend choked on a piece of meat and spent the last part of our meal in the toilets trying to breathe. Not fun at all!

I’m a regular customer and have always enjoyed coming here since the 1980’s ! Service is always great and atmosphere cheerful. Music is great.

The Archduke is located in a dramatic space with a large arched window. The thumping sounds of the underground trains gave the place a unique charm. The front of house was impeccable. The host knew it was a birthday and greeted us warmly. The manager also greeted us at the table and checked on us several times. Our server was pleasant. The food was solid, except for the steak frites. The terrine pate was tasty if perhaps a tad over salted. My friend reported that his burger was well cooked and juicy. My experience was different. I ordered the steak frites, and it was flavorless and overcooked. Even a steak aged and served with a bearnaise sauce must be seasoned with salt—especially if the sauce is on the size. The chef managed a decent sear on the steak. However, I ordered the steak medium rare and it was served between medium well to well done. I did not send the steak back, nor tell the staff that the steak was overcooked because I did not want my friend whose birthday it was to be finished with his burger by the time the steak was returned to me. Steak temperature is something a steak restaurant should not get wrong. Under seasoning a steak should not happen at a steak restaurant. However, they are not the first or last restaurant who overcooked a steak and it won’t be the last. The manager recommended the rotisserie chicken but I chose the pix fixe menu which did not include the chicken. I also reasoned that a steak restaurant should be measured by its beef. And, in that respect, it fell short. We did not receive any special dessert for the birthday. We ordered an apple pie and it was solid. Overall, the experience was mixed.
