                                                                                                                                                                                                I booked a reservation for 2 for my boyfriends birthday. Upon booking I made a comment that I would like for him to be secretly surprised with a slice of cheesecake at the end of dinner with happy birthday written on the plate. Once we arrived the hostess said “oh, I see you are here for a birthday.” I asked for the secret cake at the end of dinner so he wasn’t aware that they knew it was his birthday. We were seated and the waitress Karen came to our table, she explained the dining experience since I had never been to this restaurant before. We decided to head to the salad bar, I left my wallet phone and car keys on the table with my napkin covering it, my boyfriend left his phones on the table under his napkin as well. When arriving back at the table my napkin was gone, leaving my wallet, phone and keys exposed. My boyfriend asked who moved my napkin and the waitress, Karen, stated she moved it to “make us official” then proceeded to pour our water and stated “I’m not one of those Karen’s”. Still trying to enjoy our dinner we flipped our cards to green, anticipating the variety of meat to be delivered. A few meat carvers stopped by our table with sirloin, spicy sirloin, and sausage. Meat temperature that we preferred and discussed with Karen was medium well and she said if the meat is not to our liking that we could say no thank you and ask for the temperature we prefer, so we did just that. We waited 15 minutes without another meat server to come to our table, even though we were the very first table once they walked out of the kitchen. We watched them walk past us with lamb chops, ribs, filet mignon, and a variety of other meats without offering us any of those even though our cards were still green on the table. I flagged down Karen and asked for our bill, she arrived 10 minutes later with the bill and a dessert less plate that said happy birthday written in strawberry puree with a candle and proceeded to say sorry cheesecake is ala carte as if I wasn’t aware.

                                                                                                                                                                                                The food was really good as usual. Our server was preoccupied the whole time. When it came down to pay the bill it took her almost 30 minutes to bring it back. Meanwhile we saw her bringing drinks and serving other guests while we waited. When we received the bill she changed us for the full experience when we only had the salad bar. It took another 10 minutes to fix it after telling us she didn’t realize the error.
