Teatro se traduit par « théâtre » en italien, et cet établissement du même nom rend hommage à son emplacement, dans le quartier des arts et du théâtre à Calgary. Depuis plus de 20 ans, le Teatro est au service de la cuisine méditerranéenne contemporaine dans une ambiance gastronomique, logé dans le bâtiment historique de la Dominion Bank de Toronto (construit en 1911). La cave à vins primée recèle plus de 13 500 bouteilles représentant 1100 étiquettes différentes, avec un accent sur les vins raffinés de l'Italie et de Bordeaux.     Amazing friendly Staff, extremely caring and professional. Our server was fantastic. The Sommelier was great. Great atmosphere. Noise level excellent to enable people to speak. They made the special occasion wonderful. The only disappointment was that the food was cold and would have been great if the food was warmer.

    The music made me feel like I was in a club instead of a romantic restaurant. The pasta was not very good, neither me or my partner finished it. It was $2 per person for a small piece of bread.

    Unfortunately had a bit of a negative experience where the food took over an hour to arrive. Probably just a miscommunication but don't feel as though it was properly explained to us. Food tasted good; the gnocchi portion was very small for a main. Some very friendly staff members but regretfully given the price of the menu items I can't say we got our money's worth.

    Not sure what the server name was but the guy was excellent. Overall great staff and service. Espresso martini there is a must!

    Normally Teatro's is my go to for a fine meal, however a couple notables from my last visit: 1. They now charge $2 per person for bread, sneaky upcharge that used to be complimentary; 2. On a $225 Tomahawk - parts of the steak was blue rare, which on a steak of this cut, caliber, and price should not happen, if this is Chef's recommended temperature, this should be communicated. 3. Notwithstanding our request to take the Tomahawk bone home with all the meat left on it, they threw it in the trash, I'm sure there was at least 15% of the meat left on it; 4. We found ourselves having to pour our own wine when 3 of the 4 diners had empty glasses. While the restaurant was busy, it did not appear that the kitchen was slammed such that the service would have suffered to this extent. The highlight was the egg plant parm and the cacio pepe with truffles. Scallops were under seasoned.

    Last Sunday, my friend and I finally tried Teatro, a restaurant I’ve walked and driven past for years. Neither of us had been before, but we love good food, and my friend, who’s training to be a sommelier, was especially excited about their extensive wine list. It seemed like the perfect spot to explore together. From the moment I arrived, the experience was exceptional. The staff was incredibly friendly—they took my coat and led me to our table. One standout detail? They noticed I had a purse and brought over a tiny purse table. Genius! Every restaurant should have these. Since it was Sunday, we took advantage of their special no-corkage fee and brought our own bottle of wine, which made the night even more enjoyable. We decided to order a variety of dishes to share. To start, we had the Seared Scallops and the Zucchini Salad. The scallops were perfectly cooked, served with avocado mousse, pomelo, and a touch of ginger chili. The combination of pomelo and fennel added a bright, refreshing contrast. The zucchini salad was another standout—zucchini ribbons on a ricotta base, with toasted pine nuts and charred lemon vinaigrette. The mandarin orange segments gave it a zesty twist. Next, we shared the Feature Pasta, a cacio e pepe topped with fresh black truffle. It was absolutely divine—rich, creamy, and perfectly cooked. For our main, we went with the Dry-Aged Ribeye. The steak was tender and flavorful, served on creamy polenta with sherry mushrooms and bordelaise. Each element was delicious on its own, but together, it was the perfect bite. For dessert, I had the Chocolate Pot de Crème, a rich and flavorful dish with spiced nut brittle, rosemary meringue, and passionfruit sorbet. My friend chose the Feature Dessert, a poached pear panna cotta, which they loved for its light and silky texture. Overall, Teatro was an incredible experience—amazing food, excellent service, and a warm, welcoming ambiance. Highly recommend! We will be back.
