Taxim, which is located in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, features regionally-inspired Greek dishes paired with an all-Greek wine list. The stunning dining room is fitted with soaring 16-foot ceilings, travertine marble floors, dramatic Byzantine-style lamps and artwork, and the rooftop dining area lined with Greek flowering herbs.

The restaurant was chosen as one of of Chicago's Best New Restaurants in 2009/2010 by the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine and the Chicago Reader. Additionally, Taxim's housemade yogurt with young favas and lamb confit was selected as one of the Best Bites of 2009 by the Chicago Reader, the house-cured sardines were mentioned in Time Out Chicago's 2009 "100 Best Things We Ate (and drank) This Year" feature, and the wood-grilled octopus was selected as 2010's "Best New Dish" by Chicago magazine. Additionally, chef-owner David Schneider appeared on the Food Network's "Iron Chef America" in April 2011 going head-to-head with Iron Chef Cat Cora.

Very overpriced for what you get. I also didn’t like they automatically add 22% on every bill for gratuity. When you walked in a person at the front counter, just hands you menus and tells you to go up the stairs. Felt a little rude for a place that charges so much. Lamb was a little over salted but very tender. Honestly, you can go somewhere else and get more for your money.

Food was OK. Okra was tasty. Pita bread was not soft, felt hard. Felt stuffy in the restaurant. Like it is closed up and no air circulates inside. The included tip was a big turnoff - wouldn’t go back for that reason. We’re in wicker park l/bucktown not Miami beach.

Great ambience -- you feel like you're in a beautiful restaurant in Greece. We ate in the lower level, there's also a rooftop. Food was authentic and the service was delightful and informative. Prices are a bit steep, but seems to be the same everywhere these days.

22% automatic gratuity is a deterrent for returning. I remember this restaurant was packed many years ago. Staff is at all time low and tables were empty,

We were a a party of 6, we ordered about 8 or 9 starters and 3 entrees and everything was delicious. Menu was creative and traditional at the same time. Sadly it was pouring rain so we missed the rooftop but will come back to sit there next time. Lovely place, our server was amazing: knowledgable and friendly and sweet (and very pretty). All in all I highly recommend.

This was our second time at Taxim and we had another phenomenal experience! Issa was our waiter and he went about and beyond in his service. Food was excellent. The rooftop is gorgeous on evenings like tonight. Highly recommend!

Octopus was disappointing, overly salted, only one leg, fennel and onion was minuscule. Wish they served it chopped like they did years back. White wine was served without a chiller, had to request… it was 90 degrees outside and on the rooftop. Service and food was mediocre and will probably not go back after being a loyalist for years.

Our server was very personable and made sure we were happy with our menu selections. The outside roof deck was perfect for a summer evening.

Fabulous meal! So many interesting ways to eat vegetables. Outstanding grilled meat. Next level. Liked everything. Okra dish was best okra I ever tasted. Where do they find such tiny tender okra? Loved lentils. Loved it all.
